1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] the [G3588] days [G2250] of Artaxerxes. This [G3778] the [G3588] Artaxerxes from the [G3588] India a hundred [G1540] twenty-seven regions [G5561] held [G2902].
2: And in [G1722][G1161] those [G3778] the [G3588] days [G2250] when [G3753] was enthroned king Artaxerxes] in [G1722] Shushan the [G3588] city [G4172],
3: in [G1722] the [G3588] third [G5154] year [G2094] of his reign [G1473], banquet [G1403] he made a [G4160] [to his the [G3588] friends [G5384], and [G2532] to the [G3588] rest [G3062] of tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484], and [G2532] to the [G3588] Persians and [G2532] Medes -- honorable ones [G1741], and [G2532] to the [G3588] rulers of the [G3588] satrapies .
4: And [G2532] after [G3326] these [things] [G3778], after [G3326] the [G3588] showing [G1166] to them [G1473] the [G3588] riches [G4149] of the [G3588] his government '[G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] glory [G1391] of the [G3588] his gladness [G2167][G1473] for [G1909] days [G2250] a hundred [G1540] eighty [G3589],
5: and when [G3753][G1161] were fulfilled the [G3588] days [G2250] of the [G3588] wedding [G1062], made [G4160] the [G3588] king a banquet [G4224] for the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484], to the [G3588] [ones] found [G2147] in [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172], for [G1909] days [G2250] six [G1803], in [G1722] courtyard of the [G3588] house [G3624] of the [G3588] king ,
6: being adorned [G2885] in fine linen [G1039], and [G2532] cotton being stretched upon [G1909] lines [G4979] of fine linen [G1039] and [G2532] of purple [G4210], upon [G1909] cube [studs of gold [G5552] and [G2532] silver , upon [G1909] columns [G4769] of Parian [marble], and [G2532] stones [G3035], with beds [G2825] of gold [G5552] and [G2532] silver upon [G1909] a stone pavement [G3038] of emerald stone [G3037], and [G2532] mother of pearl , and [G2532] Parian [marble] stone [G3037], and [G2532] strewn beds transparent [G1307] variously being decorated ,
7: with cups [G4221] of gold [G5552] and [G2532] silver , wine [G3631] abundant [G4183] and [G2532] agreeable , which [G3739] himself [G1473] the [G3588] king drank [G4095].
8: the [G3588] But [G1161] this banquet [G4224][G3778] not [G3756] according to [G2596] being situated [G4295] law [G3551] took place [G1096]; but thus [G3779][G1161] wanted [G2309] the [G3588] king , and [G2532] he gave orders [G2004] to the [G3588] managers [G3623] to do [G4160] the [G3588] will [G2307] of him [G1473], and [G2532] for the [G3588] men .
9: And [G2532] Vashti the [G3588] queen made [G4160] a banquet [G4224] for the [G3588] women [G1135] in [G1722] the [G3588] palace where [G3699] the [G3588] king Artaxerxes [was].
10: And on [G1722][G1161] the [G3588] day [G2250] the [G3588] seventh [G1442] with pleasure [G2234] being [G1096] the [G3588] king , said [G2036] [to the [G3588] Mehuman, and [G2532] Biztha, and [G2532] Harbona, and [G2532] Bigtha, and [G2532] Abagtha, and [G2532] Zethar, and [G2532] Carcas, the [G3588] seven [G2033] eunuchs [G2135] of the [G3588] king Artaxerxes,
11: to bring in [G1521] the [G3588] queen to [G4314] him [G1473], to give her reign [G1473], and [G2532] to put on [G4060] her [G1473] the [G3588] diadem [G1238], and [G2532] to show [G1166] her [G1473] to all [G3956] the [G3588] rulers and [G2532] to the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] of the [G3588] her beauty [G1473], for [G3754] she was beautiful [G2570].
12: And [G2532] did not [G3756] listen to [G1522] him [G1473] Vashti the [G3588] queen to come [G2064] with [G3326] the [G3588] eunuchs [G2135]. And [G2532] fretted [G3076] the [G3588] king , and [G2532] he was provoked to anger [G3710].
13: And [G2532] he said [G2036] [to the [G3588] his friends [G5384][G1473], Thus [G2596] these [things] [G3778] Vashti spoke [G2980], you deal [G4160] then [G3767] concerning [G4012] this [G3778] law [G3551] and [G2532] judgment [G2920]!
14: And [G2532] came forward [G4334] to him [G1473] Carshena, and [G2532] Shethar and [G2532] Admatha, and [G2532] Tarshish, and [G2532] Meres and [G2532] Marsena and [G2532] Memucan seven [G2033] rulers of Persians and [G2532] Medes, the [G3588] [ones] near [G1451] the [G3588] king , the [G3588] [ones] foremost [G4413] being seated near the [G3588] king .
15: And [G2532] they reported to him [G1473] according to [G2596] the [G3588] laws [G3551] as [what [G5613] must [G1163] do [G4160] Vashti the [G3588] queen , for [G3754] she had not [G3756] done [G4160] the [things] [G3588] by [G5259] the [G3588] king , having been assigned [G4367] through [G1223] the [G3588] eunuchs [G2135].
16: And [G2532] Memucan said [G2036] the [G3588] to [G4314] the [G3588] king and [G2532] to [G4314] the [G3588] rulers , Not [G3756] the [G3588] king only [G3440] wronged Vashti the [G3588] queen , but also [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] rulers , and [G2532] the [G3588] leaders [G2233] of the [G3588] king ,
17: (for [G2532][G1063] he described [G1334] to them [G1473] the [G3588] sayings [G4487] of the [G3588] queen ) and [G2532] how [G5613] ever she contradicted the [G3588] king , as [G5613] then [G3767] she did contradict [to the [G3588] king Artaxerxes,
18: so [G3779] today [G4594], the [G3588] wives of the sovereigns of the [G3588] rest [G3062] of the [G3588] rulers of Persians and [G2532] Medes hearing the [things] [G3588] against the [G3588] king having been said [G3004] by [G5259] her [G1473], they will dare [G5111] in like manner [G3668] to dishonor the [G3588]ir husbands [G1473].
19: If [G1487] then [G3767] it seems [good [G1380] to the [G3588] king , let him assign [G4367] a royal [decree , and [G2532] let him write [it [G1125] according to [G2596] the [G3588] laws [G3551] of Medes and [G2532] Persians! and [G2532] not [G3361] otherwise treat [G5530] nor [G3366] let enter [G1525] any longer [G2089] the [G3588] queen to [G4314] him [G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] her royalty [G1473] let give [G1325] the [G3588] king to a woman [G1135] better than [G2908] her [G1473]!
20: And [G2532] let be heard the [G3588] law [G3551] the [G3588] by [G5259] the [G3588] king ! which [G3739] ever he should make [G4160] for [G1722] the [G3588] his government '[G1473]. And [G2532] thus [G3779] all [G3956] the [G3588] women [G1135] will invest [G4060] honor [G5092] to the [G3588]ir own husbands [G1438], from ones begging [G4434] unto [G2193] rich [G4145].
21: And [G2532] pleased the [G3588] word [G3056] the [G3588] king and [G2532] the [G3588] rulers . And [G2532] did [G4160] the [G3588] king as [G2505] Memucan said [G2980] the [G3588].
22: And [G2532] he sent [letters into [G1519] all [G3956] the [G3588] government ', according to [G2596] place [G5561], according to [G2596] the [G3588]ir form of speech [G1473], so as [G5620] to be fearing [G5401] them [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588]ir households [G3614][G1473].
