1 Samuel Chapter 5 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] the [G3588] Philistines took [G2983] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316], and [G2532] carried [G1533] it [G1473] from out of [G1537] Ebenezer unto [G1519] Ashdod.
2: And [G2532] took [G2983] the [G3588] Philistines the [G3588] ark [G2787], of God the [G3588][G2316] and [G2532] carried [G1533] it [G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624] of Dagon, and [G2532] stood [G3936] it [G1473] by [G3844] Dagon.
3: And [G2532] rose early [G3719] the [G3588] Ashdodites], and [G2532] they entered [G1525] into [G1519] house [G3624] of Dagon the [G3588] next day [G1887]. And [G2532] they saw [G1492], and [G2532] look [G2400], Dagon was fallen [G4098] upon [G1909] his face [G4383][G1473] upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093] before [G1799] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316]. And [G2532] they raised [G1453] the [G3588] Dagon, and [G2532] they placed [G2525] him [G1473] upon [G1909] the [G3588] his place [G5117][G1473].
4: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] they rose early [G3719] in the [G3588] next day [G1887] in the morning [G4404], and [G2532] look [G2400], Dagon was fallen [G4098] upon [G1909] his face [G4383][G1473] before [G1799] of the [G3588] ark [G2787] of Boss '[G2962]. And [G2532] the [G3588] head [G2776] of Dagon, and [G2532] both the [G3588] traces [G2487] of his hands [G5495][G1473] were removed unto [G1909] the [G3588] front of the [G3588] doorposts , and [G2532] both the [G3588] wrists of the [G3588] his hands [G5495][G1473] were fallen [G4098] upon [G1909] the [G3588] threshold . Only [G4133] the [G3588] spine of Dagon was left behind [G5275].
5: On account of [G1223] this [G3778], do not [G3756] mount [G1910] the [G3588] priests [G2409] of Dagon], [nor] do any [G2532][G3956] the [G3588] enter [G1531] into [G1519] house [G3624] of Dagon by [G1909] the [G3588] threshold of the house [G3624] of Dagon in [G1722] Ashdod until [G2193] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778]; but by passing over [G5233], they pass over it [G5233].
6: And [G2532] was oppressive the [G3588] hand [G5495] [of the] Boss '[G2962] against [G1909] Ashdodites, and [G2532] he tormented the [G3588] Ashdodites, and [G2532] he struck [G3960] them [G1473] in [G1519] the [G3588]ir buttock [G1473] -- the [G3588] [one] from Ashdod and [G2532] the [G3588]ir borders [G3725][G1473].
7: And [G2532] looked [at] [G1492] the [G3588] men of Ashdod] that [G3754] [it was] so [G3779], and [G2532] they spoke [saying [G3004] that [G3754], will not settle [G3756][G2521] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel] with [G3326] us [G1473], for [G3754] [is] hard [G4642] the [G3588] his hand [G5495][G1473] against [G1909] us [G1473], and [G2532] against [G1909] Dagon the [G3588] our god [G2316][G1473].
8: And [G2532] they send and [G2532] gather [G4863] the [G3588] satraps of the [G3588] Philistines to [G4314] themselves [G1438]. And [G2532] they say [G3004], What [G5100] should we do [G4160] with the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel? And [G2532] say [G3004] the [G3588] Gathites], Let pass between the ranks the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] to [G4314] us [G1473]! And [G2532] passed between the ranks the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel] unto [G1519] Gath.
9: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] after [G3326] the [G3588] it being passed through the ranks [G1473], that [G2532] came [G1096] hand [G5495] [of the] Boss '[G2962] against [G1722] the [G3588] city [G4172] -- disturbance [G5017] great [G3173] an exceedingly [G4970]; and [G2532] he struck [G3960] the [G3588] men of the [G3588] city [G4172] from small [G3397] unto [G2193] great [G3173] in [G1519] the [G3588]ir buttocks [G1473].
10: And [G2532] they sent out [G1821] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] unto [G1519] Ekron. And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] entered [G1525] ark [G2787] of God '[G2316] unto [G1519] Ekron, that [G2532] yelled out the [G3588] Ekronites], saying [G3004], Why [G5100] do you return the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel to [G4314] us [G1473], [is it] to put us to death [G2289][G1473] and [G2532] the [G3588] our people [G2992][G1473]?
11: And [G2532] they sent , and [G2532] they brought together [G4863] all [G3956] the [G3588] satraps of the [G3588] Philistines . And [G2532] they said [G2036], Send out [G1821] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel, and [G2532] let it sit down [G2523] in [G1519] the [G3588] place [G5117] of it [G1473], so that [G2532] in no way will we be put to death [G2289] -- us [G1473] and [G2532] the [G3588] our people [G2992][G1473].
12: For [G3754] there came to pass [G1096] a confusion [G4799] of death [G2288] in [G1722] entire [G3650] the [G3588] city [G4172], severe exceedingly [G4970], as [G5613] entered [G1525] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel]. And [G2532] the [G3588] living [G2198] and [G2532] the [G3588] dying were struck [G4141] in [G1519] the [G3588] buttocks . And [G2532] went up the [G3588] cry [G2906] of the [G3588] city [G4172] unto [G2193] the [G3588] raised-place-above (sky) '[G3772].
