1 Samuel Chapter 4 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] came to pass [G1096] word [G4487] of Samuel to [G4314] all [G3956] Israel. And [G2532] gathered together [G4867] the [G3588] Philistines for [G1519] war [G4171] against [G1909] Israel; and [G2532] Israel went forth [G1831] to [G1519] meet them [G1473] for [G1519] war [G4171]. And [G2532] they camped at [G1909] Ebenezer. And [G2532] the [G3588] Philistines camped in [G1722] Aphek.
2: And [G2532] deployed the [G3588] Philistines for [G1519] war [G4171] against [G1909] Israel. And [G2532] leaned [one] way [G2827] the [G3588] war [G4171], and [G2532] failed [G4417] men of Israel] before [G1799] the [G3588] Philistines . And [G2532] there was struck [G4141] in [G1722] the [G3588] battle array in [G1722] field four [G5064] thousand [G5505] men .
3: And [G2532] came [G2064] the [G3588] people [G2992] into [G1519] the [G3588] camp [G3925]. And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] elders [G4245] of Israel], Why [G1302] is it so devestated [G2352] us [G1473] Boss '[G2962] today [G4594] before [G1799] the [G3588] Philistines ? We should take [G2983] to [G4314] us [G1473] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] covenant [G1242] of Boss '[G2962] from out of [G1537] Shiloh, and [G2532] let [it] come forth [G1831] in [G1722] our midst [G3319][G1473]! and [G2532] it will deliver [G4982] us [G1473] from [G1537] hand [G5495] of the [G3588] our enemies [G2190][G1473].
4: And [G2532] sent the [G3588] people [G2992] unto [G1519] Shiloh, and [G2532] they lifted from there [G1564] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of covenant [G1242] of Boss '[G2962] of for the [G3588]ces [G1411], which [G3739] sits upon [G1940] the [G3588] cherubim [G5502]. And [G2532] both the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Eli [were] with [G3326] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] covenant [G1242] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] -- Hophni and [G2532] Phinehas.
5: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] came [G2064] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] covenant [G1242] [of the] Boss '[G2962] into [G1519] the [G3588] camp [G3925], that [G2532] shouted aloud all [G3956] Israel voice [G5456] with a great [G3173], and [G2532] resounded [G2278] the [G3588] land '[G1093].
6: And [G2532] heard the [G3588] Philistines the [G3588] sound [G5456] of the [G3588] cry [G2906]. And [G2532] they said [G2036], What [is [G5100] the [G3588] sound [G5456] of the [G3588] cry [G2906] the [G3588] this great one [G3173][G3778] in [G1722] the [G3588] camp [G3925] of the [G3588] Hebrews? And [G2532] they knew [G1097] that [G3754] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of BOSS the [G3588] comes [G2240] into [G1519] the [G3588] camp [G3925].
7: And [G2532] feared [G5399] the [G3588] Philistines , and [G2532] said [G2036], This [G3778] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of them [G1473] comes [G2240] to [G4314] them [G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] camp [G3925].
8: Woe [G3759] to us [G1473], rescue [G1807] us [G1473], O Boss '[G2962], today [G4594]! for [G3754] it happened not [G3756][G1096] thus [G3778] yesterday [G5504] [nor the [G2532] third [day before [G5154]. Woe [G3759] to us [G1473], who [G5100] will rescue [G1807] us [G1473] from out of [G1537] hand [G5495] the [G3588] gods '[G2316] the [G3588] substantial [G4731] of these [G3778]? These [G3778] are the [G3588] gods '[G2316] the [G3588] striking [G3960] the [G3588] Egypt in [G1722] every [G3956] calamity [G4127], and [G2532] in [G1722] the [G3588] wilderness [G2048].
9: Fortify [G2901], and [G2532] become [G1096] as [G1519] men , O Philistines ! so that [G3704] you should not [G3361] serve [G1398] to the [G3588] Hebrews, as [G2531] they served [G1398] us [G1473]; and [G2532] you will be [G1519] men and [G2532] wage war against [G4170] them [G1473].
10: And [G2532] waged war against [G4170] the [G3588] Philistines] them [G1473]; and [G2532] failed [G4417] [every] man of Israel] before [G1799] the [G3588] Philistines , and [G2532] fled [G5343] each [G1538] unto [G1519] the [G3588] his tent [G4638]. And [G2532] there came to pass [G1096] calamity [G4127] great [G3173] an exceedingly [G4970]; and [G2532] there fell [G4098] from [G1537] Israel thirty [G5144] thousand [G5505] from ranks [G5001].
11: And [G2532] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] was taken [G2983], and [G2532] both the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Eli died -- Hophni and [G2532] Phinehas.
12: And [G2532] there ran [G5143] a man of Benjamin from out of [G1537] the [G3588] battle array , and [G2532] he came [G2064] into [G1519] Shiloh on [G1722] the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1565]; and [G2532] the [G3588] his garments [G2440][G1473] were torn up [G1284], and [G2532] land '[G1093] [was] upon [G1909] the [G3588] his head [G2776][G1473].
13: And [G2532] he came [G2064]. And [G2532] look [G2400], Eli sat [G2521] upon [G1909] the [G3588] his chair [G1473] by [G3844] the [G3588] gate [G4439] watching [G4648] the [G3588] way [G3598], for [G3754] was his heart [G2588][G1473] receded [G1839] on account of [G4012] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316]. And [G2532] the [G3588] man entered [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172] to report . And [G2532] yelled out whole [G3650] the [G3588] city [G4172].
14: And [G2532] Eli heard the [G3588] sound [G5456] of the [G3588] yelling , and [G2532] said [G2036], What [is [G5100] the [G3588] sound [G5456] of the [G3588] yelling this [G3778]? And [G2532] the [G3588] man hastening [G4692], entered [G1525] and [G2532] reported the [G3588] to Eli.
15: And [G2532] Eli was a son [G5207] ninety and [G2532] eight [G3638] years [old [G2094], and [G2532] the [G3588] his eyes [G3788][G1473] were weighed down , and [G2532] he did not see [G3756].
16: And [G2532] Eli said [G2036] to the [G3588] men , to the [G3588] [ones] standing around [G4026] him [G1473], What [G5100] [is] the [G3588] report [G5456] of the [G3588] this sound [G2279][G3778]? And [G2532] the [G3588] man hastening [G4692], came forward [G4334] to [G4314] Eli, and [G2532] he said [G2036] to him [G1473], I [G1473] am the [G3588] [one] having come [G2240] from [G1537] the [G3588] camp [G3925], [and] I [G2504] have fled [G5343] from [G1537] the [G3588] battle array today [G4594]. And [G2532] Eli said [G2036], What [G5100] [is] the [G3588] taking place [G1096] thing [G4487] child [G5043]?
17: And [G2532] answered the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808], and [G2532] said [G2036], fled [G5343] [Every] man of Israel] from face [G4383] of Philistines , and [G2532] calamity [G4127] a great [G3173] has happened [G1096] among [G1722] the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] both of the [G3588] your sons [G5207][G1473] have died [G2348], and [G2532] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] was taken [G2983].
18: And [G2532] it happened [G1096] as [G5613] was mentioned [G3403] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316], that [G2532] he fell [G4098] from the [G3588] chair backwardly , being next to [G2192] the [G3588] gate [G4439], and [G2532] was broken [G4937] the [G3588] back [G3577] of him '[G1473], and [G2532] he died , for [G3754] was old [G4246] the [G3588] man and [G2532] heavy ; and [G2532] he [G1473] judged [G2919] the [G3588] Israel forty [G5062] years [G2094].
19: And [G2532] the [G3588] his daughter-in-law [G3565][G1473], wife [G1135] of Phinehas, having conceived [G4815] the [G3588] to give birth [G5088], when [G2532] she heard the [G3588] word-conveyed (message) ' that [G3754] was taken [G2983] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316], and [G2532] that [G3754] has died [G2348] the [G3588] her father-in-law [G3995][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] her husband [G1473]; that [G2532] she wept [G2799] and [G2532] gave birth [G5088], for [G3754] turned [G1994] upon [G1909] her [G1473] [birth] pangs [G5604] her [G1473].
20: And [G2532] in [G1722] the [G3588] time [G2540] she [G1473] was going to die , that [G2532] said [G2036] to her [G1473] the [G3588] women [G1135] the [G3588] standing beside [G3936] her [G1473], Do not [G3361] fear [G5399]! for [G3754] a son [G5207] you have birthed [G5088]. But [G2532] she did not [G3756] answer , and [G2532] did not [G3756] comprehend [G3539] the [G3588] in her heart [G2588][G1473].
21: And [G2532] she called [G2564] the [G3588] boy [G3808], Ichabod, for [G5228] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316], and [G2532] for [G5228] the [G3588] her father-in-law [G3995][G1473], and [G2532] for [G5228] the [G3588] her husband [G1473].
22: And [G2532] she said [G2036], has been resettled glory [G1391] from Israel, for [G1360] was taken [G2983] the [G3588] ark [G2787] of the [G3588] God '[G2316].
