2 Samuel Chapter 20 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] there [G1563] was encountered a man , son [G5207] a mischievous [G3061], and [G2532] name [G3686] of him [G1473] was Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri, a man of the [G3588] Benjamin. And [G2532] he trumped [G4537] trumpet [G4536], and [G2532] said [G2036], There not [G3756] is to us [G1473] a portion [G3310] among [G1722] David, nor [G3761] an inheritance [G2817] in [G1722] the [G3588] son [G5207] of Jesse. Each [G1538] man to [G1519] the [G3588] his tents [G4638][G1473], O Israel.
2: And [G2532] went up every [G3956] man of Israel from behind [G3693] David [to follow] after [G3694] Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri. But the [G3588][G1161] men of Judah cleaved [G2853] to [G4314] the [G3588]ir king [G1473] from the [G3588] Jordan and [G2532] unto [G2193] Jerusalem.
3: And [G2532] David entered [G1525] unto [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473] in [G1519] Jerusalem, and [G2532] took [G2983] the [G3588] king the [G3588] ten [G1176] women [G1135] of the [G3588] his concubines [G1473], whom [G3739] he left behind [G2641] to guard [G5442] the [G3588] house [G3624]; and [G2532] he gave [G1325] them [G1473] for [G1519] house [G3624] guard [G5438], and [G2532] he nourished them [G1473], but [G2532] to [G4314] them [G1473] he did not [G3756] enter [G1525]. And [G2532] they were held [G4912] until [G2193] days [G2250] of their death [G2288][G1473] as widows [G5503] living [G2198].
4: And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] king to [G4314] Amasa, Call to me [G1473] men of Judah in three [G5140] days [G2250], but you [G1473][G1161] here stand [G2476]!
5: And [G2532] Amasa went [G4198] the [G3588] to summon [G3853] the [G3588] Judah, and [G2532] he passed time [G5549] beyond the [G3588] time [G2540] which [G3739] ordered [G5021] him [G1473] David].
6: And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] Abishai, Now [G3568] will do us evil [G2554][G1473] Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri] above [G5228] Absalom. And [G2532] now [G3568] take [G2983] with [G3326] yourself [G4572] the [G3588] servants [G3816] of the [G3588] your boss [G2962][G1473], and [G2532] pursue [G2614] after [G3694] him [G1473]! so that [G3704] he should not find [G3361][G2147] for himself [G1438] cities [G4172] fortified , and [G2532] he should shadow the [G3588] eyes [G3788] of us [G1473].
7: And [G2532] went forth [G1831] after [G3694] him [G1473] the [G3588] men of Joab], and [G2532] the [G3588] Cherethites, and [G2532] the [G3588] Pelethites, and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] mighty ones [G1415]. And [G2532] they went forth [G1831] from [G1537] Jerusalem, to pursue [G1377] after [G3694] Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri.
8: And [G2532] they [were [G1473] by [G3844] the [G3588] stone [G3037] the [G3588] great [G3173] the [G3588] in [G1722] Gibeon. And [G2532] Amasa entered [G1525] in front of [G1715] them [G1473]. And [G2532] Joab being girded [G4024] uniform the [G3588] garment [G1742] with of him '[G1473], and [G2532] upon [G1909] him [G1473] being tied around [G2224] [was] a sword [G3162] being teamed up on [G1909] the [G3588] his loin [G3751][G1473] in [G1722] its sheath [G1473]. And [G2532] the [G3588] sword [G3162] came forth [G1831] and [G2532] fell [G4098].
9: And [G2532] Joab said [G2036] the [G3588] to Amasa, Are [G1487] you in health [G5198][G1473], my brother [G1473]? And [G2532] constrained [G2722] the [G3588] hand [G5495] the [G3588] right [G1188] of Joab] the [G3588] beard of Amasa the [G3588] to kiss [G2705] him [G1473].
10: And [G2532] Amasa did not [G3756] guard [G5442] from the [G3588] sword [G3162], of the [G3588] [one] in [G1722] the [G3588] hand [G5495] of Joab. And [G2532] hit [G3817] him [G1473] with [G1722] it [G1473] Joab] in [G1519] his the [G3588] flank , and [G2532] poured out [G1632] the [G3588] belly [G2836] of him '[G1473] upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093], and [G2532] [it was] not [G3756] repeated a second time to him [G1473], and [G2532] he died . And [G2532] Joab and [G2532] Abishai the [G3588] brother of him [G1473] pursued [G1377] after [G3694] Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri.
11: And [G2532] a man stood [G2476] by [G1909] him [G1473], [one] of the [G3588] servants [G3808] of Joab. And [G2532] he said [G2036], Who [G5100] [is] the [G3588] [one] wanting [G1014] Joab, and [G2532] who [G5100] [is] the [one] wanting the [G3588] David? [Be] behind [G3694] the [G3588] Joab.
12: And [G2532] Amasa having died [G2348], and [G2532] being befouled in [G1722] the [G3588] blood , [was] in [G1722] the middle [G3319] of the [G3588] road [G5147]. And [G2532] looked [at] [G1492] a man that [G3754] stood [G2476] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992]. And [G2532] he returned [G1994] the [G3588] Amasa from [G1537] the [G3588] road [G5147] to [G1519] field , and [G2532] cast [G1977] upon [G1909] him [G1473] a cloak [G2440], for [G3754] he looked [at] [G1492] that [G3754] every one [G3956] the [G3588] coming [G2064] stopped [G2476] by [G1909] him [G1473].
13: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] when [G3753] he removed him [G3179] from out of [G1537] the [G3588] road [G5147], went by [G3928] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] of Israel] after [G3694] Joab, the [G3588] to pursue [G1377] after [G3694] Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri.
14: And [G2532] he went through [G1330] among [G1519] all [G3956] the [G3588] tribes [G5443] of the [G3588] Israel, to [G1519] Abel and [G2532] Beth-maacah. And [G2532] they were assembled , and [G2532] they came [G2064] after him [G1473].
15: And [G2532] they came [G3854] and [G2532] assaulted against [G1909] him [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588] Abel and [G2532] Beth-maacah. And [G2532] they cast a seige mound [G5482] against [G1909] the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] it stood [G2476] in [G1722] the [G3588] area around the wall . And [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] the [G3588] with [G3326] Joab purposed [G3539] to throw down [G2598] the [G3588] wall [G5038].
16: And [G2532] yelled out woman [G1135] a wise [G4680] from [G1537] the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] said [G2036], Hearken indeed [G1211]! hearken ! Say [G2036] indeed [G1211] to the [G3588] Joab, Approach [G1448] unto [G2193] here [G5602]! and [G2532] I will speak [G2980] to [G4314] him [G1473].
17: And [G2532] he drew near [G4331] to [G4314] her [G1473]. And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] woman [G1135], Are you [G1487][G1473] Joab? And [G2532] he said [G2036], I [am [G1473]. And she said [G2036][G1161] to him [G1473], Hear the [G3588] words [G3056] of the [G3588] your maidservant [G1399][G1473]! And [G2532] he said [G2036], listening I [G1473] am .
18: And [G2532] she said [G2036], saying [G3004], a word [G3056] They spoke [G2980] at [G1722] first [G4413], saying [G3004], By asking [G2065] they will ask [G1905] in [G1722] Abel; and [G2532] thus [G3779] they ceased [G1587].
19: I [G1473] am peaceable [G1516] of ones supporting Israel. But you [G1473][G1161] seek [G2212] to kill [G2289] a city [G4172], even [G2532] a mother-city [G3390] in [G1722] Israel. Why [G2444] do you swallow down [G2666] inheritance [G2817] of Boss '[G2962]?
20: And [G2532] Joab answered and [G2532] said [G2036], May it not be to me [G3361][G1473][G1096] to [G1519] swallow [it [G2666], and [G2532] will [G1487] I utterly destroy [it [G1311]?
21: is not [G3756] so [G3779] the [G3588] word [G3056]. For [G3754] a man from [G1537] raised-place (mountain) '[G3735] Ephraim, Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri [is] name [G3686] of him [G1473], lifted up [G1869] the [G3588] his hand [G5495][G1473] against [G1909] the [G3588] king David. Give [G1325] him [G1473] to me [G1473] only [G3440], and [G2532] I will go forth from the [G3588] city [G4172]. And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] woman [G1135] to [G4314] Joab, look [G2400], the [G3588] his head [G2776][G1473] I will toss [G4495] to [G4314] you [G1473] over [G1223] the [G3588] wall [G5038].
22: And [G2532] went in [G4198] the [G3588] woman [G1135] to [G4314] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] she spoke [G2980] to [G4314] all [G3956] the [G3588] city [G4172] in [G1722] the [G3588] her wisdom [G4678][G1473]. And [G2532] they removed the [G3588] head [G2776] of Sheba son [G5207] of Bichri, and [G2532] they tossed [G4495] it [G1473] to [G4314] Joab. And [G2532] he trumped [G4537] with [G1722] horn , and [G2532] they scattered [G1289] from the [G3588] city [G4172], each [G1538] man to [G1519] the [G3588] his tents [G4638][G1473]. And [G2532] Joab returned to [G1519] Jerusalem to [G4314] the [G3588] king .
23: And [G2532] the [G3588] Joab [was] over [G4314] all [G3956] for the [G3588]ce [G1411] of Israel. And [G2532] Benaiah son [G5207] of Jehoiada [was] over [G1909] the [G3588] Cherethites and [G2532] over [G1909] the [G3588] Pelethites.
24: And [G2532] Adoram [was] over [G1909] the [G3588] tribute [G5411]. And [G2532] Jehoshaphat son [G5207] of Ahilud [was] recording .
25: And [G2532] Sheva [was] scholar (scribe) '[G1122] (sofer [H5613]), And [G2532] Zadok and [G2532] Abiathar [were] priests [G2409].
26: And [G2532] indeed [G1065] Ira the [G3588] Jarite was priest [G2409] the [G3588] to David.
