Job Chapter 31 -

1
a covenant [G1242] I made [G5087] the [G3588] with my eyes [G3788][G1473], and [G2532] I will not [G3756] take notice [G4920] upon [G1909] a virgin [G3933].
2
And [G2532] what [G5100] portion [is from [G3307] the [G3588] God '[G2316] above , and [G2532] inheritance [G2817] [what] fit [G2425] [is] from [G1537] highest [G5310]?
3
Woe [G3759], destruction to the [G3588] unjust , and [G2532] alienation to the [G3588] [one] committing [G4160] lawlessness .
4
Will he not [G3780][G1473] see [G3708] my way [G3598][G1473], and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] my footsteps [G1473] count out ?
5
But if [G1487][G1161] I was going [G4198] with [G3326] jokesters , or even hurrying [G4704] the [G3588] my foot [G4228][G1473] for [G1519] treachery [G1388];
6
(for I stand [G2476][G1063] in [G1722] yoke [balance scale [G2218] a just [G1342], knew [G1492] and [G1161] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] my innocence) [G1473];
7
if [G1487] turned aside [G1578] the [G3588] my foot [G4228][G1473] from out of [G1537] the [G3588] way [G3598], or if even the [G3588] my eye [G3788] follows after [G1872] the [G3588] my heart [G2588][G1473], and if even the [G3588] my hands [G5495][G1473] touched bribes [G1435];
8
may I sow [G4687] then , and [G2532] others eat [G2068]; rootless and [G1161] may I become [G1096] upon [G1909] land '[G1093].
9
If [G1487] followed after [G1811] the [G3588] my heart [G2588][G1473] wife [G1135] man of another [G2087], and if [G1499] laid in wait [G1455] I had [G1096] at [G1909] her doors [G2374][G1473];
10
may please then even [G2532] the [G3588] my wife [G1135][G1473] another [G2087]; the [G3588] and [G1161] my infants [G3516][G1473] may be humbled [G5013].
11
For rage [G2372][G1063] of anger [G3709] is unrestrained [in] the [G3588] defiling [G3392] of a man's wife [G1135].
12
a fire [G4442] For [G1063] it is burning [G2545] upon [G1909] all [G3956] the [G3588] parts [G3313]; [and] whomever [G3761] it may come upon [G1904] from [G1537] roots [G4491] it destroyed .
13
And if even I treated as worthless equity [due [G2917] my male attendant [G2324][G1473] or [G2228] female attendant , in their pleading [G2919][G1473] with [G4314] me [G1473],
14
what then [G5100][G1063] will I do [G4160] if [G1437] chastisement for me [G1473] will appoint [G4160] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962]? and if [G1437][G1161] also [G2532] he should visit [G1984], what [G5100] answer will I make [G4160]?
15
Were they [G4220] not [G3756] even as [G5613][G2532] I [G1473], born [G1096] in [G1722] a womb [G1064]? and [G2532] these [G1565] were born [G1096], and we were born [G1096][G1161] in [G1722] the [G3588] same [G1473] belly [G2836].
16
But disabled [G1161] whatever need [G5532][G3739] at some time or other [G4218] they had [G2192] missed not [G3756]; of widow [G5503] and [G1161] the [G3588] eye [G3788] I wasted not [G3756].
17
And even if the [G3588] my morsel [G1473] I ate [G2068] alone [G3441], and [G2532] not [G3780] with an orphan [G3737] I shared [G3330] of [G1537] it [G1473],
18
(for [G3754] from [G1537] my youth [G3503][G1473] I nourished [them [G1625] as [G5613] a father [G3962], and [G2532] from [G1537] womb [G1064] of my mother [G3384][G1473] I guided) [G3594];
19
and even if I overlooked [G5237] naked [G1131] perishing , and [G2532] clothed [him] not [G3756];
20
and the disabled [G1161], unless [G1508] they blessed [G2127] me [G1473], and off [G1161] shearing [wool of my lambs [G1473] [were not] heated [G2328] the [G3588]ir shoulders [G5606][G1473];
21
[and] if [G1487] I lifted up [G1869] against an orphan [G3737] a hand [G5495], (relying [G3982] that [G3754] much [G4183] to me [G1473] help remained]) ;
22
may separate then the [G3588] my shoulder [G5606][G1473] from the [G3588] collar-bone [G2807], the [G3588] and [G1161] my arm [G1023][G1473] from the [G3588] elbow may be broken [G4937].
23
For fear [G5401][G1063] of Boss '[G2962] constrained [G4912] me [G1473]; from the [G3588] his concern [G1473] I will not [G3756] endure [G5297].
24
If [G1487] I ordered up [G5021] gold [G5553] for [G1519] my strength [G2479][G1473]; and if even stone [G3037] very costly [G4185] I relied upon [G3982];
25
and even if gladness [G2165] great [G4183] in riches [G4149] was coming to me [G1473][G1096]; and if [G1487][G1161] also [G2532] upon [G1909] innumerable [things] I put [G5087][G1473] my hand [G5495];
26
(or [G2228] do we not [G3756] see [G3708] sun [G2246] the [G3588] shining [G2017] subsiding [G1587], and moon [G4582][G1161] waning ? no [power [G3756] For [G1063] to [G1909] them [G1473] there is]) .
27
And [G2532] if [G1487] was deceived in private [G2977] the [G3588] my heart [G2588][G1473]; and if [G1487][G1161] hand [G5495] placing my [G1473][G2007] upon [G1909] mouth [G4750] of me [G1473] I was fond of [G5368];
28
then let [G2532] this [be [G3778] so to me [G1473] lawlessness [as] the [G3588] greatest [G3173] imputed [G3049]; for [G3754] I lied [G5574] before [G1725] Boss '[G2962] of the [G3588] highest [G5310].
29
And even if gratified I became [G1096] at calamitous downfall [G4430] of my enemies [G2190][G1473]; and [G2532] said [G2036] [in the [G3588] my heart [G2588][G1473], Well done !
30
Let hear then the [G3588] my ear [G3775][G1473] the [G3588] my curse [G2671][G1473], and may I then be a common topic [G1161] by [G5259] my people [G2992][G1473] [for my] inflicting evil [G2559].
31
And if even often [G4178] said [G2036] the [G3588] my female attendants [G1473], Who ever [G5100] might give [G1325] to us [G1473] the [G3588] his flesh [G4561][G1473] to satisfy [G1705]? exceedingly [G3029] of my [G1473] being gracious [G5543].
32
outside [G1854] for [G1161] lodged not [G3756] stranger [G3581], the [G3588] and [G1161] my door [G2374][G1473] to all [G3956] that came [G2064] was open .
33
And if even of sins , unintentionally I hid [G2928] the [G3588] my sin [G1473],
34
(for I was not [G3756][G1063] diverted multitude by a great [G4128] the [G3588] to not [G3361] openly declare before [G1799] them) [G1473]; and if even I allowed [G1439] a disabled [man to go forth [G1831] [from the [G3588] my door [G2374][G1473] bosom [G2859] with an empty [G2756],
35
(oh that [G5100] there might be given [G1325] one to hear me) [G1473], of hand [G5495] but [G1161] [of the] Boss '[G2962] unless [G1508] I was in awe ; and as to a writ [G1161] which [G3739] I had [G2192] against [G2596] anyone [G5100],
36
upon [G1909] even my shoulders [G5606] putting [it] on [G4060] a crown [G4735] I read it .
37
And [G2532] unless [G1508] tearing [G4486] it [G1473] I gave it back nothing [G3762] having received [G2983] from [G3844] a debtor [G5533].
38
If [G1487] against [G1909] me [G1473] perhaps [G4218] the [G3588] land '[G1093] moaned [G4727], and even if the [G3588] her furrows [G1473] wept [G2799] with one accord [G3661];
39
and even if of the [G3588] its strength [G2479][G1473] I ate [G2068] alone [G3441] without value [G5092]; and if even [of the] life [G5590] of Boss '[G2962] of the [G3588] land '[G1093] in taking [anything I fretted [him [G3076];
40
instead of wheat then may there come forth [G1831] to me [G1473] nettles ; and instead [G1161] of barley [G2915] a bush . And [G2532] Job ceased [G3973] words [G4487].
