2 Kings Chapter 18 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] year [G2094] third [G5154] the [G3588] of Hoshea son [G5207] of Elah king of Israel, reigned Hezekiah son [G5207] of Ahaz king of Judah].
2: a son [G5207] [being] twenty [G1501] and [G2532] five [G4002] years [old [G2094] He was in [G1722] the [G3588] his taking reign [G1473], and [G2532] twenty [G1501] and [G2532] nine [G1767] years [G2094] he reigned in [G1722] Jerusalem. And [G2532] name [G3686] of the [G3588] his mother [G3384][G1473] [was] Abi, daughter [G2364] of Zachariah.
3: And [G2532] he did [G4160] the [G3588] upright in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Boss '[G2962], according to [G2596] all [G3956] as much as [G3745] did [G4160] David the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473].
4: He [G1473] removed [G1808] the [G3588] high [places [G5308], and [G2532] he broke [G4937] the [G3588] monuments , and [G2532] the [G3588] sacred groves he cut down [G1581], and [G2532] he cut up the [G3588] serpent [G3789] of the [G3588] brass [G5470] which [G3739] Moses made [G4160]; for [G3754] unto [G2193] the [G3588] those days [G2250][G1565] were the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel] burning incense [G2370] to it [G1473]. And [G2532] he called [G2564] it [G1473] Nehushtan.
5: In [G1722] Boss '[G2962] God '[G2316] of Israel he hoped [G1679], there was not [G3756][G1096] after [G3326] him [G1473] one likened [G3664] to him [G1473] among [G1722] the [G3588] kings of Judah, and [G2532] among [G1722] the [ones] the [G3588] taking place [G1096] before [G1715] him [G1473].
6: And [G2532] he cleaved [G2853] to the [G3588] Boss '[G2962]. He did not [G3756] leave from behind [G3693] him [G1473], and [G2532] he guarded [G5442] the [G3588] commandments [G1785] of him [G1473], as many as [G3745] BOSS gave charge [G1781][G2962] [to the [G3588] Moses.
7: And [G2532] BOSS was [G2962] with [G3326] him [G1473]; in [G1722] all [G3956] the things which [G3739] he did [G4160] he perceived [G4920]. And [G2532] he annulled [allegiance to [G1722] the [G3588] king of Assyrians, and [G2532] he did not [G3756] serve [G1398] to him [G1473].
8: He [G1473] struck [G3960] the [G3588] Philistines unto [G2193] Gaza, and [G2532] unto [G2193] its border [G3725][G1473], from tower [G4444] of the ones guarding [G5442], and [G2532] unto [G2193] city [G4172] fortified .
9: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] the [G3588] year [G2094] the [G3588] fourth [G5067] to king Hezekiah, this is [G1473] year [G1763] the [G3588] seventh [G1442] the [G3588] of Hoshea son [G5207] of Elah king of Israel, went up Shalmaneser king of Assyrians against [G1909] Samaria, and [G2532] assaulted it [G1473].
10: And [G2532] he overtook [G2638] it [G1473] at [G1520] end [G5056] of three [G5140] years [G2094]. In [G1722] year [G2094] sixth [G1622] the [G3588] of Hezekiah -- this is [G1473] year [G1763] ninth [G1766] the [G3588] of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was seized [G4815].
11: And [G2532] resettled king of Assyrians] the [G3588] Samarian into [G1519] Assyria, and [G2532] he put [G5087] them [G1473] in [G1722] Halah, and [G2532] in [G1722] Habor [by the] river [G4215] Gozan, and [G2532] in raised-places (mountains) '[G3735] of Medes;
12: because they did not [G3756] hearken to the [G3588] voice [G5456] of Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of them [G1473], and [G2532] they violated [G3845] the [G3588] his covenant [G1242][G1473], all [G3956] as much as [G3745] he gave charge [G1781] [to] Moses the [G3588] manservant [G1401] of Boss '[G2962]; and [G2532] they did not [G3756] hearken , and [G2532] they did not [G3756] do [G4160].
13: And [G2532] in the [G3588] fourteenth [G5065] year [G2094] of king Hezekiah went up Sennacherib king of Assyrians] against [G1909] the [G3588] cities [G4172] of Judah for the [G3588]tified , and [G2532] he seized [G4815] them [G1473].
14: And [G2532] sent Hezekiah king of Judah] word-conveyers (messengers) ' to [G4314] the [G3588] king of the [G3588] Assyrians, to [G1519] Lachish, saying [G3004], I have sinned , turn from me [G1473]! What [G3739] ever [G1437] you should place [G2007] upon [G1909] me [G1473] I will bear . And [G2532] placed [a tribute [G2007] the [G3588] king of Assyrians] upon [G1909] Hezekiah king of Judah of three hundred [G5145] talents [G5007] of silver and [G2532] thirty [G5144] talents [G5007] of gold [G5553].
15: And [G2532] Hezekiah gave [G1325] all [G3956] the [G3588] silver the [G3588] he found [G2147] in [G1722] house [G3624] of Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] in [G1722] treasuries [G2344] of house [G3624] of the [G3588] king .
16: In [G1722] the [G3588] that time [G2540][G1565] cut off Hezekiah the [G3588] king of Judah] the [G3588] doors [G2374] of the [G3588] temple [G3485] of Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] the [G3588] supports [G4741] which [G3739] gilded [G5558] Hezekiah the [G3588] king of Judah], and [G2532] gave [G1325] them [G1473] to the [G3588] king of Assyrians.
17: And [G2532] sent king of Assyrians the [G3588] Tartan, and [G2532] the [G3588] Rabsaris, and [G2532] the [G3588] Rabshakeh from [G1537] Lachish to [G4314] the [G3588] king Hezekiah with [G1722] force [G1411] a heavy to [G1519] Jerusalem. And [G2532] they went up , and [G2532] came [G2064] to [G1519] Jerusalem. And [G2532] they stood [G2476] by [G1722] the [G3588] aqueduct of the [G3588] upper pool [G2861], which [G3739] is in [G1722] the [G3588] way [G3598] of the [G3588] field of the [G3588] fuller [G1102].
18: And [G2532] they yelled to [G4314] Hezekiah. And [G2532] came [G2064] to [G4314] them [G1473] Eliakim son [G5207] of Hilkiah the [G3588] manager [G3623], and [G2532] Shebna the [G3588] scholar (scribe) '[G1122] (sofer [H5613]), and [G2532] Joah the [G3588] son [G5207] of Asaph the [G3588] [one] taking record .
19: And [G2532] said [G2036] to [G4314] them [G1473] Rabshakeh], Say [G2036] indeed [G1211] to [G4314] Hezekiah, Thus [G3592] says [G3004] the [G3588] king the [G3588] great [G3173], king of Assyrians, What [is [G5100] the [G3588] this reliance [G4006][G3778] which [G3739] you yield on [G3982]?
20: How then [G4133] [do] words [G3056] of lips [G5491] and [G2532] counsel [G1012] battle array become [G1096] for [G1519] war [G4171]? Now [G3568] then [G3767], upon [G1909] whom [G5100] [are] you relying upon [G3982], that [G3754] you annulled [allegiance to [G1722] me [G1473]?
21: look [G2400], are you relying [G3982] yourself [G4572] upon [G1909] the [G3588] rod [G4464] of the [G3588] reed the [G3588] fractured this [G3778] -- upon [G1909] Egypt? Thus [G5613] if [G1437] should stay [G1991] man upon [G1909] it [G1473], it will enter [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] his hand [G5495][G1473] and [G2532] puncture it [G1473]. Thus [G3779] is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all [G3956] the [G3588] [ones] relying [G3982] upon [G1909] him [G1473].
22: And [G2532] if [G1437] you should say [G2036] to [G4314] me [G1473], Upon [G1909] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] our God '[G2316][G1473] we rely on [G3982]. Is it not [G3780] he [G1473] [that] Hezekiah removed the [G3588] his high [places [G5308][G1473] and [G2532] the [G3588] his altars [G2379][G1473], and [G2532] he said [G2036] [to the [G3588] Judah and [G2532] [to the [G3588] Jerusalem, Before [G1799] the [G3588] this altar [G2379][G3778] you will do obeisance [G4352] in [G1722] Jerusalem?
23: And [G2532] now [G3568] mix in [G3396] [with] the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] the [G3588] king of Assyrians, and [G2532] I will give [G1325] to you [G1473] two thousand [G1367] horses [G2462] -- if [G1487] you will be able [G1410] to put [G1325] for yourself [G4572] a rider upon [G1909] them [G1473].
24: And [G2532] how [G4459] will you turn back the [G3588] face [G4383] toparch of one [G1520] of the [G3588] servants [G1401] of the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] least of the [G3588][G1646], and [G2532] hope [G1679] for yourself [G4572] upon [G1909] Egypt for [G1519] chariots and [G2532] horsemen [G2460]?
25: And [G2532] now [G3568], is it [G3361] without Boss '[G2962] [that] we went up against [G1909] the [G3588] this place [G5117][G3778] the [G3588] to utterly destroy [G1311] it [G1473]? Boss '[G2962] said [G2036] to [G4314] me [G1473], go up against [G1909] the [G3588] this land '[G1093][G3778] and [G2532] utterly destroy [G1311] it [G1473]!
26: And [G2532] said [G2036] Eliakim son [G5207] of Hilkiah and [G2532] Shebna and [G2532] Joah] to [G4314] Rabshakeh, Speak [G2980] indeed [G1211] to [G4314] the [G3588] your servants [G3816][G1473] in Syrian! for [G3754] we hear [G1473]. And [G2532] do not [G3756] speak [G2980] with [G4314] us [G1473] in Jewish to [G1722] the [G3588] ears [G3775] of the [G3588] people [G2992] the [G3588] upon [G1909] the [G3588] wall [G5038]!
27: And [G2532] said [G2036] to [G4314] them [G1473] Rabshakeh], Is it [G3361] to [G4314] the [G3588] your boss [G2962][G1473], and [G2532] to [G4314] you [G1473] sent me [G1473] the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] to speak [G2980] the [G3588] words [G3056] these [G3778]? [Is it] not [G3780] to [G4314] the [G3588] men , the [G3588] [ones] sitting [G2521] upon [G1909] the [G3588] wall [G5038], the [G3588] to eat [G2068] the [G3588]ir dung [G1473], and [G2532] to drink [G4095] the [G3588]ir urine [G1473] with [G3326] you [G1473] together ?
28: And [G2532] Rabshakeh stood [G2476] and [G2532] yelled voice [G5456] [with] a great [G3173] in Jewish , and [G2532] spoke [G2980], and [G2532] he said [G2036], Hear the [G3588] words [G3056] of the [G3588] king , of the [G3588] great [G3173] king of Assyrians!
29: Thus [G3592] says [G3004] the [G3588] king , Let not [G3361] lift [G1869] you [G1473] Hezekiah]! for [G3754] in no way should he be able [G1410] to rescue you [G1473][G1807] from out of [G1537] my hand [G5495][G1473].
30: And [G2532] let not [G3361] raise your hope [G1473] Hezekiah] unto [G1909] Boss '[G2962]! saying [G3004], In rescuing [G1807], will rescue [G1807] us [G1473] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] [and] in no way will be delivered [G3860] the [G3588] this city [G4172][G3778] into [G1722] hand [G5495] of king of Assyrians.
31: Do not [G3361] listen to Hezekiah! for [G3754] thus [G3592] says [G3004] the [G3588] king of Assyrians, Do [G4160] for [G3326] me [G1473] a blessing [G2129], and [G2532] come forth [G1831] to [G4314] me [G1473]! and [G2532] will eat [G2068] each [G1538] the [G3588] of his grapevine [G1473], and [G2532] each [G1538] of the [G3588] his fig tree [G4808][G1473], and [G2532] will drink [G4095] each [G1538] the [G3588] water [G5204] of the [G3588] his well [G1473];
32: until [G2193] whenever I should come [G2064], and [G2532] I should take [G2983] you [G1473] into [G1519] a land '[G1093] as [G5613] the [G3588] your land '[G1093][G1473], a land '[G1093] of grain [G4621] and [G2532] wine [G3631] and [G2532] bread and [G2532] vineyards , a land '[G1093] of olive oil [G1637] and [G2532] honey [G3192], and [G2532] you will live [G2198] and [G2532] you will not die [G3756]. And [G2532] do not [G3361] listen to Hezekiah! for [G3754] he deceives you [G1473], saying [G3004], Boss '[G2962] will deliver [G1807] you [G1473].
33: [Have [G3361] by rescuing [G4506] rescued [G4506] the [G3588] gods '[G2316] of the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] each [G1538] the [G3588] his land '[G1093][G1473] from out of [G1537] hand [G5495] of king of Assyrians?
34: Where [G4226] is the [G3588] god [G2316] of Hamath, and [G2532] Arphad? Where [G4226] is the [G3588] god [G2316] of Sepharvaim -- Hena and [G2532] Ivah? [Did [G3361] they deliver [G1807] the [G3588] Samaria from out of [G1537] my hand [G5495][G1473]?
35: Who [G5100] among [G1722] all [G3956] the [G3588] gods '[G2316] of the [G3588] lands [is the one] who [G3739] rescued [G1807] the [G3588] his land '[G1093][G1473] from out of [G1537] my hand [G5495][G1473], that [G3754] BOSS will rescue [G1807][G2962] the [G3588] Jerusalem from out of [G1537] my hand [G5495][G1473]?
36: And [G2532] they kept silent [G4623], and [G2532] did not [G3756] answer him [G1473] a word [G3056], because of [G3754] commandment [G1785] of the [G3588] king , saying [G3004], You will not [G3756] answer him [G1473].
37: And [G2532] entered [G1525] Eliakim son [G5207] of Hilkiah the [G3588] manager [G3623], and [G2532] Shebna the [G3588] scholar (scribe) '[G1122] (sofer [H5613]), and [G2532] Joah son [G5207] of Asaph the [G3588] [one] recording to [G4314] Hezekiah tearing [G1284] the [G3588] [their] garments [G2440]. And [G2532] announced to him [G1473] the [G3588] words [G3056] of Rabshakeh.
