2 Samuel Chapter 10 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] after [G3326] these [things] [G3778], that [G2532] died the [G3588] king of sons [G5207] of Ammon], and [G2532] reigned Hanun his son [G5207] instead of him [G1473].
2: And [G2532] David said [G2036], I will perform [G4160] an act of kindness [G1656] with [G3326] Hanun son [G5207] of Nahash, in which [G3739] manner [G5158] performed [G4160] the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473] an act of kindness [G1656] with [G3326] me [G1473]. And [G2532] David sent to comfort [G3870] him [G1473] by [G1722] hand [G5495] of the [G3588] his servants [G1401][G1473] concerning [G4012] the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473]. And [G2532] came [G3854] the [G3588] servants [G3816] of David] into [G1519] the [G3588] land '[G1093] of sons [G5207] of Ammon.
3: And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] rulers of sons [G5207] of Ammon] to [G4314] Hanun the [G3588]ir boss [G2962][G1473], Is the reason [G3361] for [G3844] the [G3588] David to glorify [G1392][G1473] the [G3588] father [G3962] of us [G1473] before [G1799] you [G1473] that [G3754] he sent to you [G1473] comforters [G3870]? or is it not [G3780] however [G3704] that they should search [G2045] the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] spy [G2684] it [G1473]; for [G2532] the [G3588] to survey it [G1473] David sent the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473] to [G4314] you [G1473]?
4: And [G2532] Hanun took [G2983] the [G3588] servants [G3816] of David, and [G2532] he shaved [G3587] the [G3588]ir beards [G1473], and [G2532] cut off the [G3588]ir uniforms [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588] half [G2255] unto [G2193] the [G3588]ir hips [G1473], and [G2532] he sent [G1821] them out [G1473].
5: And [G2532] it was reported the [G3588] to David concerning [G4012] the [G3588] men . And [G2532] he sent to [G1519] meet them [G1473], for [G3754] were the [G3588] men dishonored exceedingly [G4970]. And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] king , Sit down [G2523] in [G1722] Jericho until [G2193] the [G3588] rise the [G3588] beards your [G1473], and [G2532] you will return [G1994].
6: And [G2532] saw [G1492] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon] that [G3754] was disgraced [G2617] the [G3588] people [G2992] of David], and [G2532] sent the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon], and [G2532] they hired [G3409] the [G3588] Syrian of Beth-rehob, and [G2532] the [G3588] Syrian of Zoba -- twenty [G1501] thousand [G5505] footmen , and [G2532] the [G3588] king of Maacah -- a thousand [G5507] men , and [G2532] the [G3588] [one] of Tob -- twelve [G1427] thousand [G5505] men .
7: And [G2532] David heard , and [G2532] he sent the [G3588] Joab and [G2532] all [G3956] for the [G3588]ce [G1411] of the [G3588] mighty ones [G1415].
8: And [G2532] came forth [G1831] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon], and [G2532] deployed for war [G4171] by [G3844] the [G3588] door [G2374] of the [G3588] gate [G4439]. And [G2532] the [G3588] Syrian Zoba, and [G2532] Rehob, and [G2532] IshTob, and [G2532] Maacah [were] by [G2596] themselves [G1438] in [G1722] the [G3588] field .
9: And [G2532] Joab looked [at] [G1492] that [G3754] it came to pass [G1096] him [G4314][G1473] [was] facing that the [G3588] war [G4171] from [G1537] the face the [G3588][G2596][G4383] right opposite , and [G2532] from [G1537] the [G3588] rear [G3693]. And [G2532] he chose [G1951] from out of [G1537] all [G3956] the [G3588] young men [G3494] of Israel, and [G2532] deployed right opposite Syria.
10: And [G2532] the [G3588] rest [G2645] of the [G3588] people [G2992] he put [G1325] into [G1519] the [G3588] hand [G5495] of Abishai the [G3588] brother of him [G1473]. And [G2532] they deployed right opposite the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon.
11: And [G2532] he said [G2036], If [G1437] Syria should strengthen [G2901] over [G5228] me [G1473], then [G2532] you will be to me [G1473] for [G1519] deliverance [G4991]. And [G2532] if [G1437] sons [G5207] of Ammon should be strengthened [G2901] over [G5228] you [G1473], then [G2532] I will come [G4198] the [G3588] to deliver [G4982] you [G1473].
12: Be manly ! for [G2532] we should be strengthened [G2901] for [G5228] the [G3588] our people [G2992][G1473], and [G2532] for [G4012] the [G3588] cities [G4172] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of us [G1473]. And [G2532] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] will do [G4160] the [G3588] good in [G1722] his eyes [G3788][G1473].
13: And [G2532] Joab approached [G4334] and [G2532] the [G3588] his people [G2992][G1473] with [G3326] him [G1473] for [G1519] war [G4171] against [G4314] Syria. And [G2532] they fled [G5343] from his face [G4383][G1473].
14: And [G2532] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon looked [at] [G1492] that [G3754] Syria has fled [G5343]. And [G2532] they fled [G5343] from face [G4383] of Abishai, and [G2532] they entered [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172]. And [G2532] Joab returned from the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon, and [G2532] came [G3854] unto [G1519] Jerusalem.
15: And [G2532] Syria looked [at] [G1492] that [G3754] it failed [G4417] in front [G1715] Israel; and [G2532] they gathered together [G4863] at [G1909] the [G3588] same [place] [G1473].
16: And [G2532] Hadarezer sent , and [G2532] gathered together [G4863] the [G3588] Syrian the [G3588] from [G1537] the [G3588] other side [G4008] of the [G3588] river [G4215]. And [G2532] they came [G3854] unto [G1519] Helam. And [G2532] Shobach the [G3588] commander-in-chief of the [G3588] Hadarezer [was] in front of [G1715] them [G1473].
17: And [G2532] it was reported the [G3588] to David, and [G2532] he gathered together [G4863] all [G3956] Israel, and [G2532] he passed over [G1224] the [G3588] Jordan, and [G2532] he came [G3854] to [G1519] Helam. And [G2532] Syria deployed before David, and [G2532] he waged war [G4170] with [G3326] him [G1473].
18: And [G2532] Syria fled [G5343] from face [G4383] of Israel. And [G2532] David killed of the one from [G1537] the [G3588] Syria -- seven hundred chariots , and [G2532] forty [G5062] thousand [G5505] horsemen [G2460]. And [G2532] the [G3588] Shobach his commander-in-chief [G1473] he struck [G3960], and [G2532] he died there [G1563].
19: And [G2532] looked [at] [G1492] all [G3956] the [G3588] kings the [G3588] servants [G1401] of Hadarezer] that [G3754] they failed [G4417] in front [G1715] of Israel. And [G2532] they deserted after [G3326] Israel, and [G2532] they served [G1398] them [G1473]. And [G2532] Syria feared [G5399] the [G3588] to yet again deliver [G4982][G2089] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon.
