2 Samuel Chapter 17 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] Ahithophel said [G2036] to [G4314] Absalom, I will choose [G1951] indeed [G1211] for myself [G1683] twelve [G1427] thousand [G5505] men , and [G2532] I will rise up and [G2532] pursue [G2614] after [G3694] David the [G3588] at night [G3571].
2: And [G2532] I will come [G1904] upon [G1909] him [G1473], and [G2532] he [G1473] [will be] tiring [G2872] and [G2532] loosening [G1590] [his] hand [G5495], and [G2532] I will startle [G1839] him [G1473], and [G2532] will flee [G5343] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] the [G3588] with [G3326] him [G1473], and [G2532] I will strike [G3960] the [G3588] king alone [G3441].
3: And [G2532] I will return [G1994] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] to [G4314] you [G1473], in which [G3739] manner [G5158] returns [G1994] a bride [G3565] to [G4314] the [G3588] her husband [G1473]. Besides [G4133] life [G5590] man of one [G1520] you [G1473] seek [G2212], and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] will be at peace [G1515].
4: And [G2532] was pleasing the [G3588] word [G3056] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Absalom, and [G2532] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of all [G3956] the [G3588] elders [G4245] of Israel.
5: And [G2532] Absalom said [G2036], Call [G2564] indeed [G1211] the [G3588] Hushai the [G3588] Archite, and [G2532] I will hear what [G5100] [is] in [G1722] the [G3588] mouth [G4750] of him [G1473], and [G2532] indeed [G1065] of him [G1473].
6: And [G2532] Hushai entered [G1525][G1473] to [G4314] Absalom. And [G2532] Absalom said [G2036] to [G4314] him [G1473], saying [G3004], According to [G2596] the [G3588] this thing [G4487][G3778] Ahithophel spoke [G2980]. will [G1487] we do [G4160] according to [G2596] the [G3588] word [G3056] of him [G1473]? But if not [G1490] you [G1473] speak [G2980]!
7: And [G2532] Hushai said [G2036] to [G4314] Absalom, [It is] not [G3756] good , this [G3778] the [G3588] counsel [G1012] which [G3739] Ahithophel counseled [G1011] the [G3588] this one time [G3778].
8: And [G2532] Hushai said [G2036], You [G1473] know [G1492] the [G3588] father [G3962] of us [G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] his men [G1473], that [G3754] mighty [G1415] they are exceedingly [G4970], and [G2532] [is] very bitter the [G3588]ir soul [G5590][G1473] as [G5613] a bear being made childless in [G1722] the [G3588] plain . And [G2532] the [G3588] father [G3962] of us [G1473] [is] man a warrior , and [G2532] in no way will he rest [G2664] the [G3588] people [G2992].
9: For look [G2400][G1063] he [G1473] now [G3568] hides [G2928] in [G1722] one [G1520] of the [G3588] canyons , or [G2228] in [G1722] one [G1520] of the [G3588] places [G5117]. And [G2532] it will be when [G1722] [they the [G3588] fall upon [G1968] them [G1473] at [G1722] beginning , that [G2532] [one] will hear the [G3588] hearing , and [G2532] should say [G2036], There was [G1096] a devastation among [G1722] the [G3588] people [G2992], to the [G3588] [one] [following] after [G3694] Absalom.
10: And [G2532] indeed [G1065] any [G1473] son [G5207] of power [G1411] whose [G3739] the [G3588] heart [G2588] [is] as [G2531] the [G3588] heart [G2588] of the [G3588] a lion [G3023], in melting away [G5080] he will melt away [G5080], for [G3754] knows [G1492] all [G3956] Israel] that [G3754] [is] mighty [G1415] the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] and [G2532] sons [G5207] of power [G1411], all [G3956] the [G3588] [ones] with [G3326] him [G1473].
11: Thus [G3779] advising [G4823], I [G1473] advised [G4823]. And [G2532] in gathering together [G4863] will gather together [G4863] unto [G1909] you [G1473] all [G3956] Israel], from Dan and [G2532] unto [G2193] Beer-sheba, as [G5613] the [G3588] sand the [G3588] upon [G1909] the [G3588] sea [G2281] in [G1519] multitude [G4128]. And [G2532] the [G3588] your presence [G4383][G1473] will be going [G4198] in [G1722] midst [G3319] of them [G1473].
12: And [G2532] we will come [G2240] upon [G1909] him [G1473] in [G1519] one [G1520] of the [G3588] places [G5117], which [G3739] ever we should find [G2147] him [G1473] there [G1563]. And [G2532] we will camp upon [G1909] him [G1473] as [G5613] falls [G4098] dew upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093]. And [G2532] we will not leave behind [G3756][G5275] among [G1722] to him [G1473], and [G2532] of the [G3588] his men [G1473] the [G3588] with [G3326] him [G1473], even [G2532] indeed [G1065] one [G1520].
13: And [G2532] if [G1437] into [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172] he should gather [G4863], then [G2532] will take [G2983] all [G3956] Israel] against [G4314] the [G3588] that city [G4172][G1565] lines [G4979], and [G2532] drag [G4951] it [apart [G1473] unto [G2193][G1519] the [G3588] rushing stream [G5493], unto [G2193] not [G3361] leaving behind [G2641] there [G1563] neither [G3366] a stone [G3037].
14: And [G2532] Absalom said [G2036], and [G2532] every [G3956] man of Israel, is good the [G3588] counsel [G1012] of Hushai the [G3588] Archite] over [G5228] the [G3588] counsel [G1012] of Ahithophel. And [G2532] Boss '[G2962] gave charge [G1781] the [G3588] to efface the [G3588] counsel [G1012] of the [G3588] Ahithophel the [G3588] good , so [G3704] that BOSS should bring [G1863][G2962] the [G3588] bad [things] [G2556] upon [G1909] Absalom.
15: And [G2532] Hushai said [G2036][G1473] to [G4314] Zadok and [G2532] to [G4314] Abiathar the [G3588] priests [G2409], So [G3779] and [G2532] so [G3779] advised [G4823] Ahithophel the [G3588] to Absalom, and [G2532] to the [G3588] elders [G4245] of Israel, and [G2532] so [G3779] and [G2532] so [G3779] I advised [G4823][G1473].
16: And [G2532] now [G3568] send quickly [G5036] and [G2532] report the [G3588] to David! saying [G3004], You should not [G3361] lodge the [G3588] night [G3571] according to [G2596] descent [G1424] of the [G3588] wilderness [G2048], but by passing over [G1224], pass over [G1224]! so that [G3704] should not [G3361] be swallowed down [G2666] the [G3588] king , and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992], the [G3588] [one] with [G3326] him [G1473].
17: And [G2532] Jonathan and [G2532] Ahimaaz stopped [G2476] at [G1909] the [G3588] spring [G4077] of Rogel. And [G2532] came forth [G4198] the [G3588] maidservant [G3814], and [G2532] she reported to them [G1473]. And [G2532] they [G1473] went [G4198] and [G2532] reported the [G3588] to king David, for [G3754] they were not [G3756] able [G1410] to appear [G3708] the [G3588] to enter [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172].
18: And [G2532] looked [at] [G1492] them [G1473] a young man [G3808], and [G2532] he reported [to the [G3588] Absalom. And [G2532] went [G4198] the [G3588] two [G1417] quickly [G5030], and [G2532] they entered [G1525] into [G1519] a house [G3624] of a man in [G1722] Bahurim, and [G2532] unto of him '[G1473] cistern in [G1722] the [G3588] courtyard , and [G2532] they went down [G2597] there [G1563].
19: And [G2532] took [G2983] the [G3588] a woman [G1135] and [G2532] opened and spread out the [G3588] a covering [G1942] over [G1909] the [G3588] mouth [G4750] of the [G3588] cistern . And [G2532] she cooled [G5594] upon [G1909] it [G1473] dried clusters , and [G2532] they did not know [G3756][G1097] the [G3588] thing [G4487].
20: And [G2532] came [G2064] the [G3588] servants [G3816] of Absalom] to [G4314] the [G3588] woman [G1135], into [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624], and [G2532] they said [G2036], Where [is [G4226] Ahimaaz and [G2532] Jonathan? And [G2532] said [G2036] to them [G1473] the [G3588] woman [G1135], They went for [G3928] a little [G3397] the [G3588] water [G5204]. And [G2532] they sought [G2212] and [G2532] did not [G3756] find [them [G2147], and [G2532] they returned unto [G1519] Jerusalem.
21: And it came to pass [G1096][G1161], after [G3326] the [G3588]ir going forth [G1473], they went up from out of [G1537] the [G3588] cistern , and [G2532] went [G4198], and [G2532] reported the [G3588] to king David. And [G2532] they say [G3004] to him [G1473], Rise up and [G2532] pass over [G1224] quickly [G5030] the [G3588] water [G5204]! for [G3754] thus [G3592] has counseled [G1011] against [G2596] you [G1473] Ahithophel].
22: And [G2532] David rose up , and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] the [G3588] with [G3326] him [G1473], and [G2532] they passed over [G1224] the [G3588] Jordan until [G2193] the [G3588] light [G5457] of the [G3588] morning [G4404], until [G2193] one [G1520] was not unaware of [G3756][G2990] who [G3739] did not [G3756] pass over [G1224] the [G3588] Jordan.
23: And [G2532] Ahithophel knew [G1492] that [G3754] he had not taken [G3756][G1096] the [G3588] his counsel [G1012][G1473], and [G2532] he saddled the [G3588] his donkey [G3688][G1473], and [G2532] rose up , and [G2532] went forth to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473] in [G1519] the [G3588] his city [G4172][G1473]. And [G2532] he gave charge [G1781] [to the [G3588] his household [G3624][G1473], and [G2532] he hung himself , and [G2532] died . And [G2532] they entombed [him [G2290] in [G1722] the [G3588] burying-place [G5028] of the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473].
24: And [G2532] David went through [G1330] unto [G1519] Mahanaim. And [G2532] Absalom passed over [G1224] the [G3588] Jordan, he [G1473] and [G2532] every [G3956] man of Israel with [G3326] him [G1473].
25: And [G2532] the [G3588] Amasa placed [G2525] Absalom] instead of Joab over [G1909] for the [G3588]ce [G1411]. And [G2532] Amasa [was] a son [G5207] of a man , and [G2532] name to him [G3686][G1473] [was] Ithra the [G3588] Israelite. This one [G3778] entered [G1525] to [G4314] Abigail, daughter [G2364] of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, mother [G3384] of Joab.
26: And [G2532] Absalom camped and [G2532] all [G3956] Israel in [G1519] the [G3588] land '[G1093] of Gilead.
27: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] when [G3753] David entered [G1525] into [G1519] Mahanaim, that [G2532] Shobi son [G5207] of Nahash, from [G1537] Rabbah of sons [G5207] of Ammon, and [G2532] Machir son [G5207] of Ammiel from [G1537] Lo-debar, and [G2532] Barzillai the [G3588] Gileadite from [G1537] Rogelim,
28: brought [G5342] beds [G2845], and [G2532] spreads , and [G2532] kettles , and [G2532] utensils [G4632] ceramic [G2766], and [G2532] wheat , and [G2532] barley [G2915], and [G2532] flour , and [G2532] beans , and [G2532] lentils and [G2532] toasted grain ,
29: and [G2532] honey [G3192], and [G2532] butter , and [G2532] sheep [G4263], and [G2532] cheese from oxen [G1016]. And [G2532] they brought near [G4374] the [G3588] to David, and [G2532] to the [G3588] people [G2992] the [G3588] with [G3326] him [G1473] to eat [G2068]; for [G3754] they said [G2036], the [G3588] people [G2992] are hungering [G3983], and [G2532] fainting [G1590], and [G2532] thirsting [G1372], in [G1722] the [G3588] wilderness [G2048].
