2 Samuel Chapter 13 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] it happened [G1096] after [G3326] these [things] [G3778], that [G2532] there was [to the [G3588] Absalom, son [G5207] of David, a sister good [G2570] to the [G3588] look [G1491], exceedingly [G4970]. And [G2532] name [G3686] of her [G1473] was Tamar, and [G2532] loved her [G1473] Amnon son [G5207] of David].
2: And [G2532] Amnon was afflicted [G2346] so as [G5620] to be ill over [G1223] Tamar the [G3588] his sister [G1473], for [G3754] a virgin [G3933] she was [G1473], and [G2532] it was an enormous [thing] [G5246] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Amnon the [G3588] to do [G4160] anything [G5100] to her [G1473].
3: And [G2532] there was the [G3588] a companion to Amnon [G2083], and [G2532] name [G3686] of him [G1473] [was] Jonadab son [G5207] of Shimeah the [G3588] brother of David. And [G2532] Jonadab was practical [G5429] exceedingly [G4970].
4: And [G2532] he said [G2036] to him [G1473], What [is it [G5100] to you [G1473] that [G3754] thus [G3779] [you are] weak morning [G4404] [by] morning [G4404], O son [G5207] of the [G3588] king ? Will you not [G3756] report it to me [G1473]? And [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473] Amnon], Tamar, the [G3588] sister of the [G3588] my brother [G1473] Absalom, I [G1473] love .
5: And [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473] Jonadab], Go to bed [G2837] in [G1909] the [G3588] your bed [G2845][G1473], and [G2532] be as infirm ! and [G2532] will enter [G1525] the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] the [G3588] to see [G1492] you [G1473]. And [G2532] you will say [G2046] to [G4314] him [G1473], Let come [G2064] indeed [G1211] Tamar the [G3588] my sister [G1473] and [G2532] feed [G5595] me [G1473]! and [G2532] let her make [G4160] before [G2596] my eyes [G3788][G1473] food [G1033]! so that [G3704] I should see [G1492], and [G2532] eat [G2068] from [G1537] the [G3588] her hand [G5495][G1473].
6: And [G2532] Amnon went to bed [G2837], and [G2532] became as ill . And [G2532] entered [G1525] the [G3588] king to see [G1492] him [G1473]. And [G2532] Amnon said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] king , Let come [G2064] indeed [G1211] Tamar the [G3588] my sister [G1473] to [G4314] me [G1473]! and [G2532] let [her] bake before [G1722] my eyes [G3788][G1473] two [G1417] biscuits ! and [G2532] I will eat [G2068] from [G1537] the [G3588] her hand [G5495][G1473].
7: And [G2532] David sent for [G4314] Tamar to [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624], saying [G3004], Go [G4198] indeed [G1211] to [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624] of Amnon the [G3588] your brother [G1473], and [G2532] make [G4160] food for him [G1473][G1033]!
8: And [G2532] Tamar went [G4198] to [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624] of Amnon her brother [G1473]. And [G2532] [with] him [G1473] being in bed [G2837], that [G2532] she took [G2983] the [G3588] dough and [G2532] mixed it , and [G2532] made biscuits before [G2596] his eyes [G3788][G1473], and [G2532] baked the [G3588] biscuits .
9: And [G2532] she took [G2983] the [G3588] frying pan , and [G2532] emptied [it before [G1799] him [G1473], and [G2532] he did not [G3756] want [G2309] to eat [G2068]. And [G2532] Amnon said [G2036], Lead out [G1806] every [G3956] man from about me [G1473]! And [G2532] they led out [G1806] every [G3956] man about him [G1473].
10: And [G2532] Amnon said [G2036] to [G4314] Tamar, Carry in [G1533] to me [G1473] the [G3588] food [G1033] to [G1519] the [G3588] bedroom [G2846]! and [G2532] I will eat [G2068] from out of [G1537] the [G3588] your hand [G5495][G1473]. And [G2532] Tamar took [G2983] the [G3588] biscuits which [G3739] she made [G4160], and [G2532] carried [them [G1533] [to the [G3588] Amnon her brother [G1473], into [G1519] the [G3588] bedroom [G2846].
11: And [G2532] she brought [G4317] to him [G1473] the [G3588] to eat [G2068]. And [G2532] he took hold [G1949] of her [G1473], and [G2532] said [G2036] to her [G1473], Come [G1204], go to bed [G2837] with [G3326] me [G1473] my sister [G1473]!
12: And [G2532] she said [G2036] to him [G1473], No [G3361], O my brother , you should not [G3361] abase [G5013] me [G1473], for [G1360] it will not [G3756] be done [G4160] so [G3779] in [G1722] Israel. You should not [G3361] do [G4160] the [G3588] this folly [G3778].
13: And [G2532] I [G1473], where [G4226] will I carry away the [G3588] my scorn [G3681][G1473]? And [G2532] you [G1473] will be as [G5613] one [G1520] of the [G3588] fools in [G1722] Israel. And [G2532] now [G3568], speak [G2980] indeed [G1211] to [G4314] the [G3588] king ! for [G3754] in no way will he restrain [G2967] me [G1473] from you [G1473].
14: And [G2532] did not [G3756] want [G2309] Amnon the [G3588] to hear [G5219] the [G3588] her voice [G5456][G1473]. And [G2532] he powered [G2901] over [G5228] her [G1473], and [G2532] abased [G5013] her [G1473], and [G2532] went to bed [G2837] with [G3326] her [G1473].
15: And [G2532] detested [G3404] her [G1473] Amnon] [with an] hatred great [G3173] exceedingly [G4970]; for so [G3754] great [G3173] [was] the [G3588] hatred which [G3739] he detested [G3404] her [G1473], [that it was] above [G5228] the [G3588] love which [G3739] he loved her [G1473]. And [G2532] said [G2036] to her [G1473] Amnon], Rise up and [G2532] go [G4198]!
16: And [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473] Tamar] that [G3754], Great [G3173] [is] the [G3588] evil [G2549] the [G3588] last [G2078] over [G5228] the [G3588] first [G4413] which [G3739] you do [G4160] with [G3326] me [G1473], the [G3588] to send [G1821] me away [G1473]. And [G2532] did not [G3756] want [G2309] Amnon] to hearken to the [G3588] her voice [G5456][G1473].
17: And [G2532] he called [G2564] the [G3588] his servant [G3808][G1473] the [G3588] set over [G4291] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473], and [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473], Send [G1821] indeed [G1211] this [one [G3778] from me [G1473] outside [G1854], and [G2532] lock the [G3588] door [G2374] after [G3694] her [G1473]!
18: And [G2532] upon [G1909] her [G1473] was an inner garment [G5509] with long sleeves , for [G3754] thus [G3779] dressed [G1737] the [G3588] daughters [G2364] of the [G3588] king , the [G3588] virgins [G3933], the [G3588] [ones] with their outer garments [G1903][G1473]. And [G2532] led [G1806] her [G1473] the [G3588] minister [G3011] of him '[G1473] outside [G1854], and [G2532] locked the [G3588] door [G2374] after [G3694] her [G1473].
19: And [G2532] Tamar took [G2983] ashes [G4700], and [G2532] put [them [G2007] upon [G1909] the [G3588] her head [G2776][G1473]. And [G2532] the [G3588] inner garment [G5509], the [G3588] [one] with long sleeves , the [G3588] [one] upon [G1909] her [G1473], she tore [G1284]; and [G2532] she put [G2007] the [G3588] her hands [G5495][G1473] upon [G1909] the [G3588] her head [G2776][G1473], and [G2532] she went [G4198] going [G4198] and [G2532] crying out [G2896].
20: And [G2532] said [G2036] to her [G1473] Absalom the [G3588] her brother [G1473], [Has [G3361] Amnon the [G3588] your brother [G1473] been [G1096] with [G3326] you [G1473]? And [G2532] now [G3568] my sister [G1473] be silent ! for [G3754] [is] your brother [G1473] he [G1473]. Do not [G3361] put [it to [G5087] the [G3588] your heart [G2588][G1473] to say [G2980] anything [G5100]! And [G2532] Tamar sat down [G2523] expiring [G1634] in [G1722] the [G3588] house [G3624] of Absalom the [G3588] her brother [G1473].
21: And [G2532] the [G3588] king David heard all [G3956] the [G3588] words [G3056] these [G3778], and [G2532] was enraged [G2373] exceedingly [G4970].
22: And [G2532] did not [G3756] speak [G2980] Absalom] with [G3326] Amnon off bad [G2556] or [G2193] good , for [G3754] Absalom detested [G3404] the [G3588] Amnon for which [G3779] he abased [G5013] Tamar the [G3588] his sister [G1473].
23: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] after [G3326] two whole years of days [G2250], that [G2532] they were shearing [G2751] [for the [G3588] Absalom in [G1722] Baal-hazor, the [G3588] [one] by [G3844] Ephraim. And [G2532] Absalom called [G2564] all [G3956] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king .
24: And [G2532] Absalom came [G2064] to [G4314] the [G3588] king , and [G2532] said [G2036], look [G2400] indeed [G1211], shears [G2751] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473]. Let go [G4198] indeed [G1211] the [G3588] king , and [G2532] the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473] with [G3326] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473].
25: And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] king to [G4314] Absalom, No [G3361] indeed [G1211], O my son [G5207][G1473], in no way should we all go [G4198][G3956] ourselves [G1473], and [G2532] in no way should we be burdensome [G2599] upon [G1909] you [G1473]. And [G2532] [Absalom] constrained him [G1473], and [G2532] [the king] did not [G3756] want [G2309] the [G3588] to go [G4198], but [G2532] he blessed [G2127] him [G1473].
26: And [G2532] Absalom said [G2036], And [G2532] if not [G1508], let go [G4198] indeed [G1211] with [G3326] us [G1473] Amnon the [G3588] my brother [G1473]! And [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473] the [G3588] king , Why [G2444] should he go [G4198] with [G3326] you [G1473]?
27: And [G2532] constrained him [G1473] Absalom], and [G2532] he sent with [G3326] him [G1473] the [G3588] Amnon, and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king .
28: And [G2532] Absalom gave charge [G1781] [to the [G3588] his servants [G3808][G1473], saying [G3004], look [at] [G1492], when [G5613] ever [feels] good the [G3588] heart [G2588] of Amnon] with [G1722] the [G3588] wine [G3631], and [G2532] I should say [G2036] to [G4314] you [G1473], Strike [G3960] the [G3588] Amnon and [G2532] put him to death [G2289][G1473]! you should not [G3361] fear [G5399]. For [G3754] is it not [G3780] I [G1473] the [G3588] giving charge [G1781] to you [G1473]? Be manly and [G2532] become [G1096] as [G1519] sons [G5207] of power [G1411]!
29: And [G2532] did [G4160] the [G3588] servants [G3808] of Absalom the [G3588] to Amnon as [G2505] he gave charge [G1781] to them [G1473]. And [G2532] rose up all [G3956] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king , and [G2532] mounted [G1910] each [G1538] upon [G1909] the [G3588] his mule [G1473], and [G2532] they fled [G5343].
30: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] of their [G1473] being in [G1722] the [G3588] way [G3598], that [G2532] the [G3588] report came [G2064] to [G4314] David saying [G3004], Absalom struck [G3960] all [G3956] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king , and [G2532] did not [G3756] leave behind [G2641] of [G1537] them [G1473] not even [G3761] one [G1520].
31: And [G2532] rose up the [G3588] king , and [G2532] tore [G1284] the [G3588] his clothes [G2440][G1473], and [G2532] laid [G2837] upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093]. And [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473] the [G3588] standing around [G4026] him [G1473] tore [G1284] the [G3588]ir clothes [G2440][G1473].
32: And [G2532] answered Jonadab son [G5207] of Shimeah brother of David] and [G2532] said [G2036], Let not [G3361] say [G2036] the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] the [G3588] king that [G3754] all [G3956] the [G3588] boys [G3808] of the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king he put to death [G2289]! but only Amnon alone [G3441] died , for [G3754] by [G1909] mouth [G4750] of Absalom it was situated to be [G2749] from the [G3588] day [G2250] of which [G3739] he abased [G5013] Tamar the [G3588] his sister [G1473].
33: And [G2532] now [G3568], let not [G3361] put [G5087] the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] the [G3588] king upon [G1909] the [G3588] his heart [G2588][G1473] matter [G4487]! saying [G3004] that [G3754], All [G3956] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king died ; for [G3754] only Amnon alone [G3441] died .
34: And [G2532] Absalom ran away . And [G2532] lifted the [G3588] servant [G3808] the [G3588] watchman [G4649] the [G3588] his eyes [G3788][G1473] and [G2532] looked [G1492]. And [G2532] look [G2400], people [G2992] [there were] many [G4183] going [G4198] in [G1722] the [G3588] way [G3598] behind [G3693] him [G1473] from out of [G1537] side [G4125] of the [G3588] raised-place (mountain) '[G3735].
35: And [G2532] Jonadab said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] king , look [G2400], the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king are at hand [G3918]; according to [G2596] the [G3588] word [G3056] of the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473], thus [G3779] it has happened [G1096].
36: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] when [G2259] he completed [G4931] speaking [G2980], that [G2532] look [G2400], the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588] king came [G2064] and [G2532] lifted up [G1869] the [G3588]ir voice [G5456][G1473] and [G2532] wept [G2799]. And [G2532] indeed [G1065] the [G3588] king and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473] wept [G2799] weeping [G2805] great [G3173] an exceedingly [G4970].
37: And [G2532] Absalom ran away , and [G2532] he went [G4198] to [G4314] Talmai, son [G5207] of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And [G2532] mourned [G3996] the [G3588] king over [G1909] the [G3588] son [G5207] of him [G1473] all [G3956] the [G3588] days [G2250].
38: And [G2532] Absalom fled [G5343] and [G2532] went forth unto [G1519] Geshur, and [G2532] he was there [G1563] years [G2094] three [G5140].
39: And [G2532] abated [G2869] the [G3588] wind/spirit/breathing '[G4151] of the [G3588] king David the [G3588] to go forth [G1831] unto [G1909] Absalom; for [G3754] he was comforted [G3870] concerning [G5228] Amnon, that [G3754] he died .
