1 Samuel Chapter 31 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] the [G3588] Philistines waged war [G4170] against [G1909] Israel. And [G2532] fled [G5343] the [G3588] men of Israel] from [G1537] face [G4383] of the [G3588] Philistines , and [G2532] they fell [G4098] slain in [G1722] the [G3588] raised-place (mountain) '[G3735] Gilboa.
2: And [G2532] joined up against the [G3588] Philistines the [G3588] Saul and [G2532] the [G3588] his sons [G5207][G1473]. And [G2532] struck down [G5180] the [G3588] Philistines the [G3588] Jonathan, and [G2532] the [G3588] Abinadab, and [G2532] the [G3588] Melchi-shua, sons [G5207] of Saul.
3: And [G2532] weighs down the [G3588] battle [G4171] against [G1909] Saul, and [G2532] find [G2147] him [G1473] the [G3588] shooters , men bowmen ; and [G2532] he was wounded [G5135] in [G1519] the [G3588] spleen .
4: And [G2532] Saul said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] [one] carrying the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473], Unsheathe [G4685] the [G3588] your broadsword [G4501][G1473], and [G2532] pierce me [G1473] with [G1722] it [G1473]! lest [G3379] should come [G2064] the [G3588]se uncircumcised [G3778] and [G2532] should pierce me [G1473], and [G2532] should mock [G1702] against [G1722] me [G1473]. But [G2532] did not [G3756] want to [G1014] the [G3588] [one] carrying the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473], for [G3754] he feared [G5399] exceedingly [G4970]. And [G2532] Saul took [G2983] the [G3588] his broadsword [G4501][G1473], and [G2532] fell [G1968] upon [G1909] it [G1473].
5: And [G2532] looked [at] [G1492] the [G3588] [one] carrying the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473] that [G3754] Saul died [G2348], and [G2532] he fell [G1968] also [G2532] himself [G1473] upon [G1909] the [G3588] his broadsword [G4501][G1473], and [G2532] died with [G3326] him [G1473].
6: And [G2532] Saul died , and [G2532] the [G3588] three [G5140] sons [G5207] of him '[G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] [one] carrying the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473], and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] his men [G1473], in [G1722] the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1473] at [G2596] the [G3588] same [time] [G1473].
7: And [G2532] looked [at] [G1492] the [G3588] men of Israel], the [G3588] [ones] on [G1722] the [G3588] other side [G4008] of the [G3588] valley , and [G2532] the [G3588] [ones] on [G1722] the [G3588] other side [G4008] of the [G3588] Jordan, that [G3754] fled [G5343] the [G3588] men of Israel], and [G2532] that [G3754] Saul died [G2348], and [G2532] the [G3588] his sons [G5207][G1473]. And [G2532] they leave [G2641] the [G3588]ir cities [G4172][G1473], and [G2532] flee [G5343]. And [G2532] come [G2064] the [G3588] Philistines and [G2532] dwell [G2730] in [G1722] them [G1473].
8: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] on the [G3588] next day [G1887], and [G2532] come [G2064] the [G3588] Philistines to strip the [G3588] slain , and [G2532] they find [G2147] the [G3588] Saul and [G2532] the [G3588] three [G5140] sons [G5207] of him '[G1473] fallen [G4098] upon [G1909] the [G3588] raised-places (mountains) '[G3735] of Gilboa.
9: And [G2532] they behead him [G1473], and [G2532] they strip him [G1473] of the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473], and [G2532] they send into [G1519] land '[G1093] of Philistines round about [G2945], good-word-conveying (evangelizing) '[G2097] [to the [G3588]ir idols [G1497][G1473], and [G2532] [to the [G3588]ir people [G2992][G1473].
10: And [G2532] they presented the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473] in [G1519] the [G3588] Astartion. And [G2532] the [G3588] his body [G4983][G1473] they fastened down on [G1722] the [G3588] wall [G5038] in Beth-shan.
11: And [G2532] hear concerning [G4012] the [G3588] [ones] dwelling [G2730] in Jabish the [G3588] Gilead] as much as [G3745] did [G4160] the [G3588] Philistines the [G3588] to Saul.
12: And [G2532] rose up all [G3956] the [G3588] men of power [G1411]. And [G2532] they went [G4198] entire [G3650] the [G3588] night [G3571], and [G2532] took [G2983] the [G3588] body [G4983] of Saul, and [G2532] the [G3588] body [G4983] of Jonathan the [G3588] son [G5207] of him [G1473] from the [G3588] wall [G5038] in Beth-sham. And [G2532] they brought [G5342] them [G1473] into [G1519] Jabish, and [G2532] incinerated [G2618] them [G1473] there [G1563].
13: And [G2532] they took [G2983] the [G3588]ir bones [G3747][G1473] and [G2532] they entombed [them [G2290] by [G5259] the [G3588] plowed field , the [G3588] [one] in [G1722] Jabish, and [G2532] they fasted [G3522] seven [G2033] days [G2250].
