Acts Chapter 17 - | Early Church Bible

1: And having traveled through [G1353][G1161] the [G3588] Amphipolis and [G2532] Apollonia, they came [G2064] unto [G1519] Thessalonica, where [G3699] there was the [G3588] synagogue [G4864] of the [G3588] Jews.
2: And according to [G2596][G1161] the [thing] [G3588] accustomed [G1486] the [G3588] to Paul, he entered [G1525] to [G4314] them [G1473], and [G2532] for [G1909] Sabbaths [G4521] three [G5140] he reasoned [G1256] with them [G1473] from the [G3588] scriptures [G1124],
3: opening [G1272] and [G2532] pointing out [G3908] that [G3754] for the [G3588] Anointed "'[G5547] [it was] a must [G1163] to suffer [G3958], and [G2532] to be raised up from [G1537] dead [G3498]; and [G2532] that [G3754] this one [G3778] is the [G3588] [one] Anointed '[G5547] -- Jesus [G2424] ("I AM Salvation, successor to Moses" [H3091]), whom [G3739] I [G1473] announce [G2605] to you [G1473].
4: And [G2532] some [G5100] of [G1537] them [G1473] yielded [G3982], and [G2532] associated with [G4345] the [G3588] Paul and [G2532] the [G3588] Silas; both of the [G3588][G5037] worshiping [G4576] Greeks, a great [G4183] multitude [G4128], women [G1135] and [G5037] of for the [G3588]emost [G4413] not [G3756] a few [G3641].
5: And having taken up with [G4355][G1161] the [G3588] Jews, the [G3588] [ones] resisting persuasion of the [G3588] advocates , certain [G5100] men wicked [G4190], and [G2532] having raised a mob [G3792], made a disruption [G2350] in the [G3588] city [G4172]. And having stood by [G2186][G5037] the [G3588] house [G3614] of Jason, they sought [G2212] to lead them [G1473] unto [G1519] the [G3588] people [G1218].
6: not [G3361] having found [G2147] But [G1161] them [G1473], they dragged [G4951] the [G3588] Jason and [G2532] certain [G5100] brothers unto [G1909] the [G3588] rulers of the city [G4173], yelling that [G3754], the [G3588] [ones] the [G3588] inhabitable world [G3611] overthrowing are these [G3778], and [G2532] here [G1759] they are at hand [G3918],
7: whom [G3739] Jason has welcomed [G5264]; and [G2532] these [G3778] all [G3956] contrary of the [G3588] decrees [G1378] of Caesar act [G4238], king saying [G3004] another [G2087] to be -- Jesus [G2424] ("I AM Salvation, successor to Moses" [H3091]).
8: were disturbed [G5015] And [G1161] the [G3588] crowd [G3793] and [G2532] the [G3588] rulers of the city [G4173] hearing these [things] [G3778].
9: And [G2532] having taken [G2983] the [G3588] a fit [security [G2425] from [G3844] the [G3588] Jason, and [G2532] the [G3588] rest [G3062], they released them [G1473].
10: And the [G3588][G1161] brothers immediately [G2112] by [G1223] the [G3588] night [G3571] sent forth [G1599] both the [G3588][G5037] Paul and [G2532] the [G3588] Silas unto [G1519] Berea; who [G3748], being come [G3854], into [G1519] the [G3588] synagogue [G4864] went of the [G3588] Jews.
11: And these [G3778][G1161] were more well-born [G2104] of the [G3588] [ones] in [G1722] Thessalonica, who [G3748] received [G1209] the [G3588] word [G3056] with [G3326] all [G3956] eagerness [G4288], by the [G3588][G2596] day [G2250] examining the [G3588] scriptures [G1124], if [G1487] these held [G2192][G3778] such [things] [G3779].
12: Many [G4183] indeed [G3303] then [G3767] from [G1537] them [G1473] trusted '[G4100]; and [G2532] of the [G3588] Greek women [G1135] the [G3588] decent [G2158], and [G2532] men , [there were] not [G3756] a few [G3641].
13: But when [G5613][G1161] knew [G1097] the [G3588] from the [G3588]ssalonica Jews] that [G3754] also [G2532] in [G1722] the [G3588] Berea was announced [G2605] by [G5259] the [G3588] Paul the [G3588] word [G3056] of the [G3588] God '[G2316], they came [G2064] also [G2546] shaking up [G4531] the [G3588] crowds [G3793].
14: And immediately [G2112][G1161] then [G5119] the [G3588] sent Paul [G1821] the [G3588] brothers to go [G4198] as by [G5613][G1909] the [G3588] sea [G2281]. remained behind [G5278] But [G1161] the [G3588] both [G5037] Silas and [G2532] the [G3588] Timothy] there [G1563].
15: And the [G3588] [ones] [G1161] standing by [G2525] the [G3588] Paul conveyed ' him [G1473] unto [G2193] Athens; and [G2532] having received [G2983] a command [G1785] to [G4314] the [G3588] Silas and [G2532] Timothy, that [G2443] as quickly as possible [G5613][G5033] they should come [G2064] to [G4314] him [G1473], they exited [G1826].
16: But in [G1722][G1161] the [G3588] Athens, looking out for [G1551] them [G1473] the [G3588] Paul], was provoked in [G3947] the [G3588] his wind/spirit/breathing '[G4151][G1473], in [G1722] of him '[G1473] viewing [G2334] full of idols [G2712] being the [G3588] city [G4172].
17: He reasoned [G1256] indeed [G3303] then [G3767] in [G1722] the [G3588] synagogue [G4864] with the [G3588] Jews, and [G2532] the [G3588] [ones] worshiping [G4576], and [G2532] in [G1722] the [G3588] market every [G2596][G3956] day [G2250] with [G4314] the [G3588] [ones] coming by [G3909].
18: And some [G5100][G1161] of the [G3588] Epicureans and [G2532] the [G3588] Stoics, philosophers [G5386], engaged with [G4820] him [G1473]. And [G2532] some [G5100] said [G3004], What [G5100] ever does want [G2309] the [G3588] seed picker [G4691] this [G3778] to say [G3004]? And some [said the [G3588][G1161], of strange [G3581] demons [G1140] He seems [G1380] an announcer [G2604] to be ; because [G3754] of the [G3588] Jesus [G2424] ("I AM Salvation, successor to Moses" [H3091]) and [G2532] the [G3588] resurrection to them [G1473] he good-word-conveyed '[G2097].
19: And taking hold of [G1949][G5037] him [G1473], unto [G1909] the [G3588] Areopagus they conveyed ' [him], saying [G3004], Are we able [G1410] to know [G1097] what [G5100] the [G3588] this new [G2537][G3778] the [G3588] by [G5259] you [is [G1473] being spoken [G2980] teaching [G1322]?
20: being strange [G3579] For [G1063] some [things] [G5100] you insert [G1533] into [G1519] the [G3588] our hearing [G1473]. We want [G1014] then [G3767] to know [G1097] what [G5100] ever these [things] will [G2309][G3778] to be .
21: Athenians And [G1161] all [G3956], and [G2532] the [G3588] emigrating [G1927] strangers [G3581], in [G1519] nothing [G3762] else [G2087] [spend their] opportune time [G2119] than [G2228] to tell [G3004] something [G5100] and [G2532] to hear newer [G2537].
22: having stood [G2476] And [G1161] the [G3588] Paul] in [G1722] the middle [G3319] of the [G3588] Areopagus, said [G5346], Men , Athenians, in all [things] [G2596][G3956] as [G5613] ones reverent of gods [G1174] I view you [G1473][G2334].
23: For going through [G1330][G1063], and [G2532] contemplating the [G3588] your objects of worship [G4574][G1473], I found [G2147] also [G2532] a shrine [G1041] in [G1722] which [G3739] had been inscribed [G1924], To an unknown God '[G2316]. Whom [G3739] then [G3767] not knowing you are pious towards [G2151], this one [G3778] I [G1473] announce [G2605] to you [G1473].
24: The [G3588] God '[G2316], the [G3588] [one] making [G4160] the [G3588] arrangement '[G2889] and [G2532] all [G3956] the [things] [G3588] in [G1722] it [G1473], this one [G3778] of raised-place-above (sky) '[G3772] and [G2532] land '[G1093] Boss '[G2962] being [G5224], [does] not [G3756] in [G1722] handmade [G5499] temples [G3485] dwell [G2730],
25: nor [G3761] by [G5259] hands [G5495] of men attending [G2323] is there any feeling any want [G4326][G5100], himself [G1473] giving [G1325] to all [G3956] life [G2222] and [G2532] breath [G4157], and [G2532] the [G3588] all [things] [G3956];
26: and he made [G4160][G5037] of [G1537] one [G1520] blood every [G3956] tradition-people (ethnic) '[G1484] of men , to dwell [G2730] upon [G1909] all [G3956] the [G3588] face [G4383] of the [G3588] land '[G1093], having confirmed [G3724] beforehand [G4367] times [G2540] and [G2532] the [G3588] boundaries [G3734] of their dwelling the [G3588][G2733] --
27: to seek [G2212] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], if [G1487] then perhaps [G1065] they might grope after [G5584] him [G1473], and [G2532] might find [him [G2147], though indeed [G2544] not [G3756] far [G3112] from one [G1520] each [G1538] of us [G1473] being [G5224].
28: in [G1722] him [G1473] For [G1063] we live [G2198], and [G2532] move [G2795], and [G2532] are ; as [G5613] also [G2532] some [G5100] of the [G3588] among you [G2596][G1473] poets [G4163] have said [G2046], For of him the [G3588][G1063] also [G2532] a family [G1085] we are .
29: a family [G1085] then [G3767] Being [G5224] the [G3588] of God '[G2316], ought we [G3756][G3784] to think [G3543] gold [G5557], or [G2228] silver , or [G2228] stone [G3037], an imprint [G5480] of a craft [G5078], and [G2532] thinking [G1761] of man the [G3588] divine [G2304] to be like [G3664]?
30: the the [G3588] Indeed [G3303] then [G3767] times [G5550] of the [G3588] ignorance having overlooked [G5237] the [G3588] God '[G2316], at present [G3569] exhorts [G3853] the [G3588] all men [G3956] everywhere [G3837] to repent [G3340];
31: because [G1360] he set [G2476] a day [G2250] in [G1722] which [G3739] he is about [G3195] to judge [G2919] the [G3588] world [G3611] in [G1722] righteousness [G1343], by [G1722] a man in whom [G3739] he confirmed [G3724], trust '[G4102] having furnished [G3930] to all [G3956], having raised him [G1473] from [G1537] dead [G3498].
32: And hearing [G1161] a resurrection of dead [G3498], some the [G3588][G3303] taunted [G5512]; and some the [G3588][G1161] said [G2036], We will hear you [G1473] again [G3825] concerning [G4012] this [G3778].
33: And [G2532] thus [G3779] the [G3588] Paul came forth [G1831] from out of [G1537] midst [G3319] of them [G1473].
34: But some [G5100][G1161] men cleaving [G2853] to him [G1473] trusted '[G4100]; among [G1722] whom [G3739] also [was [G2532] Dionysius the [G3588] Areopagite, and [G2532] a woman [G1135], by name [G3686] Damaris, and [G2532] others [G2087] with [G4862] them [G1473].
