Deuteronomy Chapter 20 - | Early Church Bible

1: And if [G1437][G1161] you should go forth [G1831] to [G1519] war [G4171] against [G1909] the [G3588] enemies [G2190] of you [G1473], and [G2532] you should look [at] [G1492] a horse [G2462], and [G2532] rider , and [G2532] people [G2992] many more [G4183] than you [G1473], do not [G3756] be fearful [G5399] off them [G1473]! for [G3754] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473] [is] with [G3326] you [G1473], the [one] the [G3588] bringing you [G1473] from [G1537] land '[G1093] of Egypt.
2: And [G2532] it will be whenever [G3752] you should approach [G1448] to the [G3588] war [G4171], that [G2532] drawing near [G4331] the [G3588] priest [G2409] will speak [G2980] to the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] will say [G2046] to [G4314] them [G1473],
3: Hear , O Israel! You [G1473] go [G4198] today [G4594] to [G1519] war [G4171] with [G1909] the [G3588] enemies [G2190] of you [G1473]; do not [G3361] loosen [G1590] the [G3588] your heart [G2588][G1473]; do not [G3361] fear [G5399] nor [G3366] be devastated [G2352], nor [G3366] turn aside [G1578] from their face [G4383][G1473]!
4: For [G3754] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473], the [G3588] [one] going forth [G4313] with [G3326] you [G1473], he will join in war with you [G1473] [against the [G3588] your enemies [G2190][G1473], and [G2532] he will preserve [G1295] you [G1473].
5: And [G2532] will speak [G2980] the [G3588] scholars (scribes) '[G1122] (soferim [H5613])] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], saying [G3004], Who [is [G5100] the [G3588] man the [G3588] building [G3618] house [G3614] a new [G2537], and [G2532] did not [G3756] dedicate [G1457] it [G1473]? Let him go [G4198] and [G2532] return to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3614][G1473]! lest [G3361] he die in [G1722] the [G3588] war [G4171], and [G2532] man another [G2087] will dedicate [G1457] it [G1473].
6: And [G2532] Who [is [G5100] the [G3588] man whoever [G3748] plants [G5452] a vineyard , and [G2532] was not [G3756] glad [G2165] from [G1537] it [G1473]? Let him go [G4198], and [G2532] let him return to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3614][G1473]! lest [G3361] he should die in [G1722] the [G3588] war [G4171], and [G2532] man another [G2087] be glad [G2165] from out of [G1537] his [labor [G1473].
7: And [G2532] who [is [G5100] the [G3588] man who [G3748] has espoused [G3423] a woman [G1135], and [G2532] did not [G3756] take [G2983] her [G1473]? Let him go [G4198], and [G2532] let him return to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3614][G1473]! lest [G3361] he die in [G1722] the [G3588] war [G4171], and [G2532] man another [G2087] will take [G2983] her [G1473].
8: And [G2532] will add [G4369] the [G3588] scholars (scribes) '[G1122] (soferim [H5613])] to speak [G2980] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] will say [G2046], Who [is [G5100] the [G3588] man , the [G3588] [one] fearing [G5399] and [G2532] timid [G1169] in the [G3588] heart [G2588]? Let him go [G4198], and [G2532] let him return to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3614][G1473]! that [G2443] he should not [G3361] make timid the [G3588] heart [G2588] of the [G3588] brother of him [G1473], as [G5618] the [G3588] he [G1473].
9: And [G2532] it will be whenever [G3752] should cease [G3973] the [G3588] scholars (scribes) '[G1122] (soferim [H5613])] speaking [G2980] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], that [G2532] they will place [G2525] rulers of the [G3588] military [G4756] taking lead [G4285] of the [G3588] people [G2992].
10: And if [G1437][G1161] you should come forward [G4334] to [G4314] a city [G4172] to wage war against it [G1473], that [G2532] you should call them forth [G2564][G1473] with [G3326] peace [G1515].
11: And [G2532] it will be if [G1437] then [G3303] they should peaceably [G1516] answer you [G1473], and [G2532] open to you [G1473], it will be [that] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] the [G3588] being found [G2147] in [G1722] it [G1473] will be to you [G1473] tributaries , and [G2532] subjects to you [G5255][G1473].
12: But if [G1437][G1161] they should not [G3361] obey [G5219] you [G1473], and [G2532] should make [G4160] against [G4314] you [G1473] war [G4171], and [G2532] you will besiege it [G1473],
13: and [G2532] will deliver [G3860] it [G1473] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] your God '[G2316][G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] your hands [G5495][G1473], then [G2532] you will strike [G3960] every [G3956] male of it [G1473] by [G1722] carnage [G5408] [of the] sword [G3162],
14: except [G4133] the [G3588] women [G1135] and [G2532] the [G3588] belongings . And [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] cattle [G2934], and [G2532] all [G3956] as much [G3745] as exists [G5224] in [G1722] the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] chattel you will despoil for yourself [G4572], and [G2532] you will eat [G2068] all [G3956] the [G3588] plunder of the [G3588] your enemy [G2190][G1473], whom [G3739] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473] gives [G1325] to you [G1473].
15: Thus [G3779] you will do [G4160] for all [G3956] the [G3588] cities [G4172] the [G3588] far away [G3112] being from you [G1473] exceedingly [G4970], which [G3739] are not [G3780] from the [G3588] cities [G4172] of the [G3588]se tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484][G3778] which [G3739] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473] gives [G1325] to you [G1473] to inherit [G2816] the [G3588]ir land '[G1093][G1473].
16: But look [G2400][G1161], from the [G3588] cities [G4172] of the [G3588]se tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484][G3778] which [G3739] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473] gives [G1325] to you [G1473] to inherit [G2816] the [G3588]ir land '[G1093][G1473], you will not [G3756] take alive [G2221] any one [G3956] breathing [G1709].
17: But you will devote them to consumption [G1473] -- the [G3588] Hittite, and [G2532] the [G3588] Amorite, and [G2532] the [G3588] Canaanite, and [G2532] Perizzite, and [G2532] Hivite, and [G2532] Jebusite, and [G2532] Gergesite; in which [G3739] manner [G5158] gave charge [G1781] to you [G1473] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] your God '[G2316][G1473];
18: that [G2443] they should not [G3361] teach [G1321] you [G1473] to do [G4160] all [G3956] the [G3588]ir abominations [G1473], as many as [G3745] they made [G4160] unto the [G3588]ir gods '[G2316][G1473], that [G2532] you will sin before [G1726] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473].
19: But if [G1437][G1161] you should besiege around [G4012] a city [G4172] days [G2250] many [G4183] to wage war [against] it [G1473] for [G1519] taking it [G1473], you will not [G3756] utterly destroy [G1842] the [G3588] its trees [G1186][G1473] by putting [G1911] upon [G1909] them [G1473] an iron [axe [G4604]; but off it [G1473] you will eat [G2068], it [down [G1473] but [G1161] you will not cut [G3756][G1581]; nor [is [G3361] a man the [G3588] tree [G3586] the [G3588] in [G1722] the [G3588] grove to enter unto [G1525] from your presence [G4383][G1473] for [G1519] the [G3588] siege mound [G5482]?
20: But the [G3588] tree [G3586] which [G3739] you know [G1987] that [G3754] not [G3756] fruit-bearing it is , this [G3778] you will annihilate [G3645], and [G2532] you will cut it [G1581], and [G2532] will build [G3618] a siege mound at [G1909] the [G3588] city [G4172], whichever [G3748] makes [G4160] against [G4314] you [G1473] the [G3588] war [G4171], until [G2193] whenever it should be delivered up [G3860].
