1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in turning [G1994] of the [G3588] year [G1763] into [G1519] the [G3588] time [G2540] of the [G3588] departure of the [G3588] kings [for battle], that [G2532] David sent the [G3588] Joab and [G2532] the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473] with [G3326] him [G1473] and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] Israel; and [G2532] they utterly destroyed [G1311] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Ammon, and [G2532] they besieged against [G1909] Rabbah. And [G2532] David sat down [G2523] in [G1722] Jerusalem.
2: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] towards [G4314] evening [G2073], and [G2532] David rose up from the [G3588] his bed [G2845][G1473], and [G2532] walked [G4043] upon [G1909] the [G3588] roof [G1430] of the [G3588] house [G3624] of the [G3588] king . And [G2532] he looked [at] [G1492] from the [G3588] roof [G1430] a woman [G1135] bathing [G3068]; and [G2532] the [G3588] woman [G1135] was good [G2570] the [G3588] in appearance [G3799] -- exceedingly [G4970].
3: And [G2532] David sent and [G2532] sought [G2212] the [G3588] woman [G1135]. And [G2532] they said said [G2036], Is not [G3780] this [G3778] Bath-sheba, daughter [G2364] of Eliam, wife [G1135] of Uriah the [G3588] Hittite?
4: And [G2532] David sent word-conveyers (messengers) ', and [G2532] he took [G2983] her [G1473]; and [G2532] he entered [G1525] to [G4314] her [G1473], and [G2532] went to bed [G2837] with [G3326] her [G1473], and [G2532] she [G1473] was being set apart from her uncleanness [G1473]. And [G2532] she returned to [G1519] the [G3588] her house [G3624][G1473].
5: And [G2532] conceived [G4815] the [G3588] woman [G1135]. And [G2532] she sent and [G2532] reported to David, and [G2532] said [G2036], I am one conceiving [G4815][G1473].
6: And [G2532] David sent to [G4314] Joab, saying [G3004], Send to me [G1473] the [G3588] Uriah the [G3588] Hittite! And [G2532] Joab sent the [G3588] Uriah to [G4314] David.
7: And [G2532] Uriah came [G3854] and [G2532] entered [G1525] to [G4314] him [G1473]. And [G2532] David asked [G1905] for [G1519] peace [G1515] of Joab, and [G2532] for [G1519] peace [G1515] of the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] for [G1519] peace [G1515] of the [G3588] war [G4171].
8: And [G2532] David said [G2036] the [G3588] to Uriah, Go down [G2597] to [G1519] the [G3588] your house [G3624][G1473], even [G2532] to wash [G3538] the [G3588] your feet [G4228][G1473]! And [G2532] Uriah went forth [G1831] from [G1537] house [G3624] of the [G3588] king ; and [G2532] went forth [G1831] after [G3694] him [G1473] a tribute from the [G3588] king .
9: And [G2532] Uriah went to bed [G2837] by [G3844] the [G3588] door [G2374] of the [G3588] house [G3624] of the [G3588] king with [G3326] all [G3956] the [G3588] servants [G1401] of the [G3588] his boss [G2962][G1473]; and [G2532] he did not [G3756] go down [G2597] to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473].
10: And [G2532] they reported the [G3588] to David, saying [G3004] that [G3754], did not [G3756] go down [G2597] Uriah] to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473]. And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] Uriah, not [G3780] from [G1537] a journey [G3598] you [G1473] Are come [G2064]? Why [G5100] did you not [G3756] go down [G2597] to [G1519] the [G3588] your house [G3624][G1473]?
11: And [G2532] Uriah said [G2036] to [G4314] David, the [G3588] ark [G2787], and [G2532] Israel, and [G2532] Judah, dwell [G2730] in [G1722] tents [G4633]; and [G2532] the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] Joab, and [G2532] the [G3588] man-servants [G1401] of the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] upon [G1909] face [G4383] of the [G3588] field camp ; and [G2532] will I [G1473] enter [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] my house [G3624][G1473] to eat [G2068] and [G2532] to drink [G4095] and [G2532] to go to bed [G2837] with [G3326] the [G3588] my wife [G1135][G1473]? By the [G3588] your life [G2222][G1473], and [G2532] by the [G3588] life [G2222] of the [G3588] your soul [G5590], in no way will I do [G4160] the [G3588] this thing [G4229][G3778].
12: And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] Uriah, Sit down [G2523] here [G5602] also [G2532] today [G4594]! and [G2532] tomorrow I will send [G1821] you [G1473]. And [G2532] Uriah sat down [G2523] in [G1722] Jerusalem on [G1722] the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1565], and [G2532] the [G3588] next day [G1887].
13: And [G2532] called [G2564] him [G1473] David]. And [G2532] he ate [G2068] before [G1799] him [G1473], and [G2532] drank [G4095]. And [G2532] he intoxicated [G3184] him [G1473]. And [G2532] he went forth [G1831] at evening [G2073] the [G3588] to go to bed [G2837] upon [G1909] the [G3588] his bed [G2845][G1473] with [G3326] the [G3588] servants [G1401] of the [G3588] his boss [G2962][G1473], but [G2532] unto [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473] he did not [G3756] go down [G2597].
14: And [G2532] it became [G1096] morning [G4404], and [G2532] David wrote [G1125] a scroll to [G4314] Joab, and [G2532] sent it by [G1722] hand [G5495] of Uriah.
15: And [G2532] he wrote [G1125] in [G1722] the [G3588] scroll , saying [G3004], Bring [G1521] the [G3588] Uriah right opposite the [G3588] battle [G4171] of for the [G3588]tified [part [G2900], and [G2532] turn away from behind [G3693] him [G1473]! [so that [G2532] he will be struck [G4141] and [G2532] will die .
16: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] the [G3588] Joab's guarding [G5442] at [G1909] the [G3588] city [G4172], that [G2532] he put [G5087] the [G3588] Uriah into [G1519] the [G3588] place [G5117] where [G3739] he knew [G1492] that [G3754] men of power [G1411] [were] there [G1563].
17: And [G2532] came forth [G1831] the [G3588] men of the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] waged war [G4170] against [G4314] Joab. And [G2532] there fell [G4098] [some] off the [G3588] people [G2992] of [G1537] the [G3588] servants [G1401] of David; and [G2532] died also [G2532] even [G1065] Uriah the [G3588] Hittite].
18: And [G2532] Joab sent and [G2532] reported the [G3588] to David all [G3956] the [G3588] matters [G4487] of the [G3588] battle [G4171].
19: And [G2532] Joab gave charge [G1781] to the [G3588] word-conveyer (messenger) ', saying [G3004], In [G1722] the [G3588] your completing [G4931][G1473] all [G3956] the [G3588] matters [G4487] of the [G3588] battle [G4171] speaking [G2980] to [G4314] the [G3588] king ,
20: that [G2532] it will be if [G1437] ascends the [G3588] rage [G2372] of the [G3588] king , and [G2532] he should say [G2036] to you [G1473], Why [G5100] [is it] that [G3754] you approached [G1448] to [G4314] the [G3588] city [G4172] to wage war [G4170]? Did you not [G3756] know [G1492] that [G3754] they would shoot from on top the [G3588] wall [G5038]?
21: Who [G5100] struck [G3960] the [G3588] Abimelech son [G5207] of Jerubbesheth? Did not [G3780] a woman [G1135] toss [G4495] a piece [G2801] of millstone [G3458] upon [G1909] him [G1473] from above the [G3588] wall [G5038], and [G2532] he died in [G1722] Thebez? Why did [G2444] you lead forward [G4317] to [G4314] the [G3588] wall [G5038]? And [G2532] you will say [G2046], And also [G2532][G1065] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473] Uriah the [G3588] Hittite is dead [G2348].
22: And [G2532] came [G3854] the [G3588] word-conveyer (messenger) ' of Joab] to [G4314] the [G3588] king in [G1519] Jerusalem, and [G2532] reported the [G3588] to David all [G3956] as much as [G3745] Joab spoke [G2980].
23: And [G2532] said [G2036] the [G3588] word-conveyer (messenger) ' to [G4314] David that [G3754], strengthened [G2901] against [G1909] us [G1473] the [G3588] men , and [G2532] came forth [G1831] against [G1909] us [G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] field , and [G2532] we came [G1096] unto [G1909] them [G1473] unto [G2193] the [G3588] door [G2374] of the [G3588] gate [G4439].
24: And [G2532] shot the [G3588] [ones] shooting unto [G1909] the [G3588] your servants [G1401][G1473] from of the [G3588] wall [G5038], and [G2532] there died [some] off the [G3588] servants [G1401] of the [G3588] king , and [G2532] even [G1065] the [G3588] your subject [G1401][G1473] Uriah the [G3588] Hittite has died [G2348].
25: And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] word-conveyer (messenger) ', Thus [G3592] you will say [G2046] to [G4314] Joab, Do not let [G3361] be severe [G4190] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of you [G1473] the [G3588] this matter [G4487][G3778], for [G3754] perhaps [G4218] indeed [G3303] it is thus [one] way [G3779], and perhaps [G4218][G1161] thus [another way [G3779] devours [G2719] [that] the [G3588] broadsword [G4501]; strengthen [G2901] the [G3588] your battle [G4171][G1473] against [G1909] the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] raze it [G2679][G1473], and [G2532] strengthen [G2901] against it [G1473].
26: And [G2532] heard the [G3588] wife [G1135] of Uriah] that [G3754] has died [G2348] Uriah the [G3588] her husband [G1473], and [G2532] she lamented [G2875] over [G1909] the [G3588] her husband [G1473].
27: And [G2532] went by [G1330] the [G3588] [time of] mourning [G3997], and [G2532] David sent and [G2532] brought [G4863] her [G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473]. And [G2532] she became [G1096] to him [G1473] for [G1519] a wife [G1135], and [G2532] she bore [G5088] to him [G1473] a son [G5207]. And [G2532] wicked [G4190] appeared [G5316] the [G3588] matter [G4487] which [G3739] David did [G4160] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Boss '[G2962].
