1 Samuel Chapter 8 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] Samuel grew old [G1095], that [G2532] he placed [G2525] the [G3588] his sons [G5207][G1473] as magistrates [G1348] the [G3588] in Israel.
2: And [G2532] these [are [G3778] the [G3588] names [G3686] of the [G3588] his sons [G5207][G1473]. the [G3588] first-born [G4416] [was] Joel, and [G2532] name [G3686] of the [G3588] second [G1208] Abiah, magistrates [G1348] in [G1722] Beer-sheba.
3: And [G2532] did not [G3756] go [G4198] the [G3588] his sons [G5207][G1473] in [G1722] his way [G3598][G1473]. And [G2532] they turned aside [G1578] after [G3694] the [G3588] contribution [G4930], and [G2532] they took [G2983] bribes [G1435], and [G2532] turned aside [G1578] ordinances [G1345].
4: And [G2532] gathered together [G4867] men of Israel], and [G2532] they came [G3854] to [G4314] Samuel into [G1519] Ramah.
5: And [G2532] they said [G2036] to him [G1473], look [G2400], you [G1473] grow old [G1095], and [G2532] the [G3588] your sons [G5207][G1473] do not [G3756] go [G4198] in [G1722] the [G3588] way [G3598] of you [G1473]. And [G2532] now [G3568] place [G2525] over [G1909] us [G1473] a king to adjudicate for us [G1473] as [G2531] all [G3956] the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484]!
6: And [G2532] was wicked [G4190] the [G3588] matter [G4487] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Samuel, as [G5613] they said [G2036], Give [G1325] to us [G1473] a king the [G3588] to adjudicate for us [G1473]! And [G2532] Samuel prayed [G4336] to [G4314] Boss '[G2962].
7: And [G2532] BOSS said [G2036][G2962] to [G4314] Samuel, Hearken to the [G3588] voice [G5456] of the [G3588] people [G2992]! as [G2505] whatever they should speak [G2980] to [G4314] you [G1473], for [G3754] [it is] not [G3756] you [G1473] they treat with contempt [G1848], but only me [G1473] they treat with contempt [G1848], the [G3588] to not [G3361] reign over [G1909] them [G1473].
8: According to [G2596] all [G3956] the [G3588] works [G2041] which [G3739] they did [G4160] to me [G1473], from which [G3739] day [G2250] I led them [G1473] from [G1537] Egypt, and [G2532] until [G2193] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778]; even [G2532] as they abandoned [G1459] me [G1473], and [G2532] served [G1398] gods '[G2316] other [G2087], so [G3779] they [G1473] do [G4160] also [G2532] to you [G1473].
9: And [G2532] now [G3568] hearken [to the [G3588]ir voice [G5456][G1473]! Only [G4133] that [G3754] in testifying [G1263] you should testify [G1263] to them [G1473], and [G2532] you will report to them [G1473] the [G3588] ordinance [G1345] of the [G3588] king , which [G3739] will reign over [G1909] them [G1473].
10: And [G2532] Samuel spoke [G2036] all [G3956] the [G3588] words [G3056] of the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], of the [G3588] [ones] asking of him for [G3844][G1473] a king .
11: And [G2532] he said [G2036], This [G3778] will be the [G3588] ordinance [G1345] of the [G3588] king , of the [G3588] [one] reigning over [G1909] you [G1473]. the [G3588] Your sons [G5207][G1473] he will take [G2983] and [G2532] put [G5087] them [G1473] in [G1722] his chariots [G1473] and [G2532] among [G1722] his horsemen [G2460][G1473], and [G2532] they will run in front [G4390] of the [G3588] his chariots [G1473].
12: And [G2532] he will appoint [G5087] them [G1473] for himself [G1438] as commanders of thousands [G5506], and [G2532] commanders of hundreds [G1543], [G2532] to plow the [G3588] his plowing [G1473], and [G2532] to harvest [G2325] his harvest [G2326][G1473], and [G2532] to gather the vintage [G5166] of his gathering the crops [G1473], and [G2532] to make [G4160] items [G4632] for his warfare [G1473], and [G2532] items [G4632] for his chariots [G1473].
13: And [G2532] the [G3588] your daughters [G2364][G1473] he will take [G2983] for [G1519] perfumers , and [G2532] for [G1519] cooks , and [G2532] for [G1519] baking .
14: And [G2532] the [G3588] your fields [G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] your vineyards [G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] olive groves [G1638] your [G1473] the [G3588] good he will take [G2983] and [G2532] will give [G1325] [to the [G3588] his servants [G1401][G1473].
15: And [G2532] the [G3588] your seeds [G4690][G1473] he will take a tenth , and [G2532] of the [G3588] your vineyards [G1473], and [G2532] he will give [G1325] [to the [G3588] his eunuchs [G2135][G1473], and [G2532] [to the [G3588] his servants [G1401][G1473].
16: And [G2532] the [G3588] your menservants [G1401][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] your maidservants [G1399][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] herds your [G1473] the [G3588] good , and [G2532] the [G3588] your donkeys [G3688][G1473] he will take [G2983]; and [G2532] he will take a tenth for [G1519] the [G3588] his works [G2041][G1473].
17: And [G2532] of the [G3588] your flocks [G4168][G1473] he will take a tenth . And [G2532] you [G1473] will be to him [G1473] for [G1519] servants [G1401].
18: And [G2532] you will yell in [G1722] the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1565] before [G1537] face [G4383] of the [G3588] your king [G1473], of which [G3739] you chose [G1586] for yourselves [G1438]; and [G2532] will not heed [G3756][G1873] Boss '[G2962] you [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588] those days [G2250][G1565].
19: And [G2532] willed not [G3756][G1014] the [G3588] people [G2992] to hearken to the [G3588] voice [G5456] of the [G3588] Samuel. And [G2532] they said [G2036] to him [G1473], Not [so [G3780], but [let it be that [G3754] a king will be over [G1909] us [G1473].
20: And [G2532] will be also [G2532] we [G1473] as [G2505] all [G3956] the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484]. And [G2532] will adjudicate for us [G1473] king our [G1473], and [G2532] he will go forth [G1831] in front of [G1715] us [G1473], and [G2532] he will wage [G4170] the [G3588] our war [G4171][G1473].
21: And [G2532] Samuel heard all [G3956] the [G3588] words [G3056] of the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] he spoke [G2980] them [G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] ears [G3775] of Boss '[G2962].
22: And [G2532] BOSS said [G2036][G2962] to [G4314] Samuel, Hearken [to the [G3588]ir voice [G5456][G1473], and [G2532] let reign unto them [G1473] a king ! And [G2532] Samuel said [G2036] to [G4314] men of Israel, Let run each [man [G1538] to [G1519] the [G3588] his city [G4172][G1473]!
