1 Samuel Chapter 18 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] he finished [G4931] speaking [G2980] to [G4314] Saul, that [G2532] the [G3588] soul [G5590] of Jonathan was bound together [G4887] to the [G3588] soul [G5590] of David; and [G2532] loved him [G1473] Jonathan] according to [G2596] the [G3588] his own soul [G5590][G1473].
2: And [G2532] received [G2983] him [G1473] Saul] in [G1722] the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1565], and [G2532] he did not allow [G3756] him [G1473] to return [G1994] to [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624] of the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473].
3: And [G2532] ordained [G1303] Jonathan and [G2532] David] a covenant [G1242], for [G3754] he loved him [G1473] according to [G2596] the [G3588] his soul [G5590][G1473].
4: And [G2532] Jonathan took off [G1562] the [G3588] outer garment [G1903], the [G3588] [one] upon [G1909] him [G1473], and [G2532] he gave [G1325] it [G1473] [to the [G3588] David, and [G2532] the [G3588] his uniform [G1473], [G2532] unto [G2193] the [G3588] his broadsword [G4501], and [G2532] the [G3588] bow [G5115], and [G2532] the [G3588] his belt [G2223][G1473].
5: And [G2532] David went forth [G1607] perceiving [G4920] in [G1722] all [G3956] what [G3739] ever sent him [G1473] Saul]. And [G2532] placed [G2525] him [G1473] Saul] over [G1909] the [G3588] men [of the [G3588] war [G4171]. And [G2532] he pleased in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] also [G1065] even [G2532] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of the [G3588] manservants [G1401] of Saul.
6: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] the [G3588] his entering [G1531][G1473], when [G3753] David returned [G1994][G1473] striking [G3960] the [G3588] Philistine , that [G2532] came forth [G1831] the [women the [G3588] joining in a dance and [G2532] singing , to [G1519] meet Saul the [G3588] king from out of [G1537] all [G3956] the [G3588] cities [G4172] of Israel, with [G1722] tambourines , and [G2532] with [G1722] joyfulness , and [G2532] with [G1722] cymbals [G2950].
7: And [G2532] took the lead the [G3588] women [G1135] the [G3588] playing [G3815], and [G2532] said [G3004], Saul struck [G3960][G1722] his thousands [G5505][G1473], and [G2532] David [G1722] his ten-thousands [G3461][G1473].
8: And [G2532] Saul was provoked to anger [G3710], and [G2532] appeared as [G5316] sorry state [G4190] the [G3588] thing [G4487] an exceeding [G4970] before [G1799] Saul concerning [G4012] the [G3588] this word [G3056][G3778]. And [G2532] he said [G2036], They gave [G1325] [to the [G3588] David the [G3588] ten-thousands [G3461], and [G2532] to me [G1473] they gave [G1325] the [G3588] thousands [G5505]. And [G2532] what [G5100] [is there] to him [G1473] besides [G4133] the [G3588] government '?
9: And [G2532] Saul was suspecting the [G3588] David from the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1565] and [G2532] beyond [G1900].
10: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] off the [G3588] next day [G1887], that [G2532] fell [G4098] wind/spirit/breathing '[G4151] from [G3844] God '[G2316] a ferocious [G4190] upon [G1909] Saul, and [G2532] he prophesied [G4395] in [G1722] the midst [G3319] of the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473]; And [G2532] David strummed [G5567] with [G1722] the [G3588] his hand [G5495] as [G5613] according to [G2596] each [G1538] day [G2250]; and [G2532] the [G3588] wooden spear [was] in [G1722] the [G3588] hand [G5495] of Saul.
11: And [G2532] Saul lifted the [G3588] wooden spear and [G2532] said [G2036], I will strike [G3960] into [G1722] David and [G2532] into [G1722] the [G3588] wall [G5109]. And [G2532] David turned aside [G1578] from his presence [G4383][G1473] twice [G1364].
12: And [G2532] Saul feared [G5399] from face [G4383] of David, for [G3754] BOSS was [G2962] with [G3326] him [G1473]. And [G2532] from Saul he left .
13: And [G2532] removed him [G1473] Saul] from himself [G1438], and [G2532] placed [G2525] him [G1473] to himself [G1438] [as] a commander of a thousand [G5506]. And [G2532] he went forth [G1607] and [G2532] entered [G1531] before [G1715] the [G3588] people [G2992].
14: And [G2532] David was in [G1722] all [G3956] the [G3588] his ways [G3598][G1473] perceiving [G4920], and [G2532] Boss '[G2962] was with [G3326] him [G1473].
15: And [G2532] Saul looked [at] [G1492] as [G5613] he [G1473] perceived [G4920] exceedingly [G4970], and [G2532] he was cautious [G2125] off his person [G4383][G1473].
16: And [G2532] all [G3956] Israel and [G2532] Judah loved the [G3588] David, for [G3754] he [G1473] entered [G1531] and [G2532] went forth [G1607] before [G4253] face [G4383] of the [G3588] people [G2992].
17: And [G2532] Saul said [G2036] to [G4314] David, look [G2400], the [G3588] my daughter [G2364], the [G3588] elder [G3173], Merab. I will give [G1325] her to you [G1473][G1473] for [G1519] a wife [G1135], only [G4133] become [G1096] to me [G1473] for [G1519] a son [G5207] of power [G1411], and [G2532] wage war [G4170] of the [G3588] battles [G4171] of Boss '[G2962]! And [G2532] Saul said [G2036], Let not be [G3361] the [G3588] my hand [G5495][G1473] upon [G1909] him [G1473], but let be on [G1722] him [G1473] the [G3588] hand [G5495] of the [G3588] Philistines !
18: And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] Saul, Who [G5100] am I [G1473], and [G2532] what [is [G5100] the [G3588] life [G2222] of the [G3588] kin [G4772] of the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473] in [G1722] Israel, that [G3754] I will be an in-law of the [G3588] king ?
19: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] the [G3588] time [G2540] of the [G3588] giving [G1325] the [G3588] Merab daughter [G2364] of Saul [to the [G3588] David, that [G2532] he gave her [G1473] to the [G3588] Adriel the [G3588] Meholathite for [G1519] a wife [G1135].
20: And [G2532] loved Michal the [G3588] daughter [G2364] of Saul the [G3588] David. And [G2532] it was reported the [G3588] to Saul, and [G2532] was pleasing in [G1722] the [G3588] his eyes [G3788][G1473] the [G3588] thing [G4487].
21: And [G2532] Saul said [G2036], I will give [G1325] her [G1473] to him [G1473], and [G2532] she will be to him [G1473] for [G1519] an obstacle [G4625], and [G2532] will be upon [G1909] him [G1473] hand [G5495] of Philistines . And [G2532] Saul said [G2036] to [G4314] David [a second time [G1722] the [G3588][G1417], You will ally to me by marriage [G1918][G1473] today [G4594].
22: And [G2532] Saul gave charge [G1781] [to the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473], saying [G3004], You speak [G2980][G1473] in private [G2977] the [G3588] to David, saying [G3004], look [G2400], want [G2309] is towards [G1722] you [G1473] the [G3588] king"s , and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] his servants [G3816][G1473] love you [G1473], and [thus [G2532] you [G1473] be allied by marriage [G1918] to the [G3588] king !
23: And [G2532] spoke [G2980] the [G3588] servants [G3816] of Saul] into [G1519] the [G3588] ears [G3775] of David the [G3588]se things [G4487][G3778]. And [G2532] David said [G2036], the [G3588] light [thing] Is it in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of you [G1473] to be allied by marriage [G1918] to king ? And I [am [G1473][G1161] man a humble [G5011], and [G2532] not [G3780] esteemed [G1784]?
24: And [G2532] reported the [G3588] servants [G3816] of Saul] to him [G1473] according to [G2596] the [G3588]se words [G4487][G3778] which [G3739] David spoke [G2980].
25: And [G2532] Saul said [G2036], Thus [G3592] will you say [G2046] the [G3588] to David, does not [G3756] want [G1014] the [G3588] king a dowry , but only a hundred [G1540] foreskins of Philistines , to avenge [G1556] against [G1519] enemies [G2190] of the [G3588] king . And [G2532] Saul devised [G3049] to put [G1685] the [G3588] David into [G1519] the [G3588] hands [G5495] of the [G3588] Philistines .
26: And [G2532] told the [G3588] servants [G3816] of Saul] [to the [G3588] David the [G3588]se things [G4487][G3778]. And [G2532] was straightened [G2116] the [G3588] word [G3056] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of David to be allied by marriage [G1918] to the [G3588] king . And [G2532] were not fulfilled [G3756][G4137] the [G3588] days [G2250].
27: And [G2532] David rose up and [G2532] went [G4198] himself [G1473] and [G2532] the [G3588] his men [G1473], and [G2532] he struck [G3960] among [G1722] the [G3588] Philistines two hundred [G1250] men . And [G2532] he brought [G5342] the [G3588]ir foreskins [G1473], and [G2532] fulfilled [G4137] them [G1473] to the [G3588] king ; and [G2532] he becomes allied by marriage [G1918] to the [G3588] king ; and [G2532] gives [G1325] to him [G1473] Saul the [G3588] Michal his daughter [G2364][G1473] for [G1519] a wife [G1135].
28: And [G2532] Saul looked [at] [G1492] and [G2532] knew [G1097] that [G3754] Boss '[G2962] [was] with [G3326] David. And [G2532] Michal the [G3588] his daughter [G2364] and [G2532] all [G3956] Israel loved him [G1473].
29: And [G2532] Saul proceeded [G4369] to fear [G5399] from before [G4383] David still [G2089]. And [G2532] Saul became [G1096] hating the [G3588] David all [G3956] the [G3588] days [G2250].
30: And [G2532] came forth [G1831] the [G3588] rulers of the [G3588] Philistines , and [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] from fit [G2425] the [G3588] expedition their [G1473], that [G2532] David perceived [G4920] above [G3844] all [G3956] the [G3588] servants [G1401] of Saul. And [G2532] esteemed [G5091] the [G3588] his name [G3686] [was] greatly [G4970].
