1 Kings Chapter 12 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] went [G4198] the [G3588] king Rehoboam] to [G1519] Shechem, for [G3754] unto [G1519] Shechem came [G2064] all [G3956] Israel] to give him reign [G1473].
2: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] heard Jeroboam son [G5207] of Nebat], and [G2532] he [G1473] [was] still [G2089] being in [G1722] Egypt, as [G5613] he had fled [G5343] from [G1537] face [G4383] of the [G3588] king Solomon, and [G2532] settled [G2521] in [G1722] Egypt,
3: that [G2532] they sent and [G2532] called [G2564] him [G1473]. And [G2532] Jeroboam came [G2064] and [G2532] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] of Israel. And [G2532] spoke [G2980] the [G3588] people [G2992] to [G4314] the [G3588] king Rehoboam, saying [G3004],
4: the [G3588] Father [G3962] of you [G1473] hardened [G4645] the [G3588] our neck yoke [G1473]. And [G2532] you [G1473] now [G3568], lighten [G2893] off the [G3588] servitude [G1397] of the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] the [G3588] hard [G4642], and [G2532] from the [G3588] neck yoke of him '[G1473] the [G3588] heavy ! of which [G3739] he put [G1325] upon [G1909] us [G1473], and [G2532] we will serve [G1398] to you [G1473].
5: And [G2532] he said [G2036] to [G4314] them [G1473], Go forth for [G2193] days [G2250] three [G5140], and [G2532] return to [G4314] me [G1473]! And [G2532] they went forth .
6: And [G2532] reported the [G3588] king Rehoboam] to the [G3588] elders [G4245], the ones who [G3739] were standing [G3936] before [G1799] Solomon the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473] was still [G2089] living [G2198] [while] he [G1473], saying [G3004], How [G4459] do you [G1473] counsel [G1011] that [G2443] I should answer [to the [G3588] this people [G2992][G3778] a word [G3056]?
7: And [G2532] they spoke [G2980] to [G4314] him [G1473], saying [G3004], If [G1487] in [G1722] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778] you will be a servant [G1401] the [G3588] to this people [G2992][G3778], and [G2532] should serve [G1398] them [G1473], and [G2532] will speak [G2980] to [G4314] them [G1473] words [G3056] [with] good , then [G2532] they will be to you [G1473] servants [G1401] all [G3956] the [G3588] days [G2250].
8: And [G2532] he abandoned [G1459] the [G3588] counsel [G1012] of the [G3588] elders [G4245] which [G3739] they advised [G4823] him [G1473], and [G2532] he took up advice [G4823] with [G3326] the [G3588] young men [G3808] the [G3588] being brought up [G1625] with [G3326] him [G1473], of the [G3588] [ones] standing [G3936] before [G4253] his face [G4383][G1473].
9: And [G2532] he said [G2036] to them [G1473], What [G5100] do you [G1473] advise [G4823], and [G2532] what [G5100] should I answer the [G3588] to this people [G2992][G3778] the [G3588] speaking [G2980] to [G4314] me [G1473], saying [G3004], Lighten [G2893] up the [G3588] neck yoke which [G3739] put [G1325] the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] upon [G1909] us [G1473]?
10: And [G2532] they spoke [G2980] to [G4314] him [G1473], the [G3588] young men [G3808] the [G3588] having been brought up [G1625] with [G3326] him [G1473]; and [G2532] they said [G2036], Thus [G3592] you will speak [G2980] the [G3588] to this people [G2992][G3778], to the [G3588] [ones] speaking [G2980] to [G4314] you [G1473], saying [G3004], the [G3588] Father [G3962] of you [G1473] oppressed the [G3588] our neck yoke [G1473], and [G2532] you [G1473] now [G3568] lighten it [G2893] from us [G1473]! Thus [G3592] you will say [G2046] to [G4314] them [G1473], the [G3588] My thinness [G1473] thicker than is the [G3588] loin [G3751] of the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473].
11: And [G2532] now [G3568], the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473] saddled you [G1473] with [G1722] neck yoke a heavy , and I [G2504] will add [G4369] unto [G1909] the [G3588] your neck yoke [G1473]. the [G3588] Father [G3962] of me [G1473] corrected [G3811] you [G1473] with [G1722] whips [G3148], but I [G1473][G1161] will correct [G3811] you [G1473] with [G1722] scorpions [G4651].
12: And [G2532] Jeroboam came [G3854], and [G2532] all [G3956] Israel to [G4314] the [G3588] king Rehoboam on [G1722] the [G3588] day [G2250] the [G3588] third [G5154] as [G2530] spoke [G2980] to them [G1473] the [G3588] king , saying [G3004], Return to [G4314] me [G1473] the [G3588] day [G2250] the [G3588] third [G5154]!
13: And [G2532] answered the [G3588] king to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992] hard [G4642]. And [G2532] Rehoboam abandoned [G1459] the [G3588] counsel [G1012] of the [G3588] elders [G4245] which [G3739] they advised [G4823] him [G1473].
14: And [G2532] he spoke [G2980] to [G4314] them [G1473] according to [G2596] the [G3588] counsel [G1012] of the [G3588] young men [G3808], saying [G3004], the [G3588] Father [G3962] of me [G1473] oppressed the [G3588] your neck yoke [G1473], and I [G2504] will add [G4369] to [G1909] the [G3588] your neck yoke [G1473]. the [G3588] Father [G3962] of me [G1473] corrected [G3811] you [G1473] with [G1722] whips [G3148], and I [G2504] will correct [G3811] you [G1473] with [G1722] scorpions [G4651].
15: And [G2532] did not [G3756] hear the [G3588] king the [G3588] people [G2992], for [G3754] he was converted by [G3844] Boss '[G2962], so that [G3704] should stand [G2476] the [G3588] his word [G4487][G1473], which [G3739] he spoke [G2980] by [G1722] hand [G5495] of Ahijah the [G3588] Shilonite over [G1909] Jeroboam son [G5207] of Nebat.
16: And [G2532] knew [G1492] all [G3956] Israel] that [G3754] did not hearken to [G3756] them [G1473] the [G3588] king . And [G2532] answered the [G3588] people [G2992] to the [G3588] king , saying [G3004], What [G5100] is our [G1473] portion [G3310] with [G1722] David? and [G2532], There is no [G3756] inheritance to us [G1473][G2817] with [G1722] son [G5207] of Jesse. Run , O Israel, to [G1519] the [G3588] your tents [G4638][G1473]! Now [G3568] graze [G1006] the [G3588] your [own] house [G3624][G1473], David! And [G2532] Israel went forth to [G1519] the [G3588] his tents [G4638][G1473].
17: And [G2532] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel, the [G3588] [ones] dwelling [G2730] in [G1722] the [G3588] cities [G4172] of Judah -- reigned over [G1909] them [G1438] the [G3588] Rehoboam].
18: And [G2532] sent the [G3588] king Rehoboam the [G3588] Adoram, the [one] for the [G3588] [collecting [G1909] the [G3588] tribute [G5411]. And [G2532] stoned [G3036] him [G1473] with [G1722] stones [G3037] all [G3956] Israel], and [G2532] he died . And [G2532] the [G3588] king Rehoboam anticipated [G5348] to go up upon [G2089] the [G3588] chariot the [G3588] to flee [G5343] into [G1519] Jerusalem.
19: And [G2532] Israel annulled [allegiance with [G1519] the [G3588] house [G3624] of David until [G2193] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778].
20: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] heard all [G3956] Israel] that [G3754] Jeroboam returned from out of [G1537] Egypt, that [G2532] they sent and [G2532] called [G2564] him [G1473] to [G1519] the [G3588] congregation [G4864]. And [G2532] they gave him reign [G1473] over [G1909] Israel. And [G2532] there was none [G3756] [following] after [G3694] house [G3624] of David except chiefdom of Judah and [G2532] Benjamin only [G3441].
21: And [G2532] Rehoboam entered [G1525] into [G1519] Jerusalem, and [G2532] he held an assembly of all [G3956] the [G3588] congregation [G4864] of Judah, and [G2532] chiefdom of Benjamin -- a hundred [G1540] and [G2532] twenty [G1501] thousand [G5505] young men [G3494] for making [G4160] war [G4171], the [G3588] to wage war [G4170] against [G4314] house [G3624] of Israel, to return [G1994] the [G3588] government ' of Rehoboam son [G5207] of Solomon.
22: And [G2532] there came to pass [G1096] word [G3056] of Boss '[G2962] to [G4314] Shemaiah man of the [G3588] God '[G2316], saying [G3004],
23: Speak [G2036] the [G3588] to Rehoboam son [G5207] of Solomon king of Judah, and [G2532] to [G4314] all [G3956] house [G3624] of Judah and [G2532] Benjamin, and [G2532] to the [G3588] rest [G2645] of the [G3588] people [G2992]! saying [G3004],
24: Thus [G3592] says [G3004] Boss '[G2962], You will not [G3756] go up , nor [G3761] wage war [G4170] with [G3326] the [G3588] your brothers [G1473] of sons [G5207] of Israel. Let return each [G1538] to [G1519] the [G3588] his house [G3624][G1473]! for [G3754] from [G1537] me [G1473] has taken place [G1096] the [G3588] this thing [G4487][G3778]. And [G2532] they hearkened to the [G3588] word [G3056] of Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] they ceased [G2664] the [G3588] to go [G4198] against [G2596] the [G3588] thing [G4487] of Boss '[G2962].
25: And [G2532] Jeroboam built [G3618] the [G3588] Shechem the [G3588] in [G1722] raised-place (mountain) '[G3735] Ephraim, and [G2532] he dwelt [G2730] in [G1722] it [G1473]. And [G2532] he went forth [G1831] from there [G1564] and [G2532] built [G3618] the [G3588] Penuel.
26: And [G2532] Jeroboam said [G2036] in [G1722] the [G3588] his heart [G2588][G1473], look [G2400], now [G3568] will return [G1994] the [G3588] government ' to [G1519] house [G3624] of David,
27: if [G1437] should go up the [G3588] this people [G2992][G3778] to offer a sacrifice [G2378] in [G1722] house [G3624] of Boss '[G2962] in [G1519] Jerusalem, then [G2532] will turn [G1994] the [G3588] heart [G2588] of the [G3588] people [G2992] towards [G4314] the [G3588]ir boss [G2962][G1473], to [G4314] Rehoboam king of Judah, and [G2532] they will kill me [G1473].
28: And [G2532] consulted [G1011] the [G3588] king , and [G2532] made [G4160] two [G1417] heifers [G1151] of gold [G5552]. And [G2532] he said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], Let it be enough [G2427] for you [G1473] to go up to [G1519] Jerusalem! look [G2400], the [G3588] your gods '[G2316][G1473], O Israel, the [G3588] [ones] leading you [G1473] from out of [G1537] land '[G1093] of Egypt.
29: And [G2532] he put [G5087] the [G3588] [one] [G1520] in [G1722] Beth-el, and [G2532] the [G3588] [other] one [G1520] he put [G1325] in [G1722] Dan.
30: And [G2532] came to pass [G1096] the [G3588] account [G3056] this [G3778] for [G1519] sin . And [G2532] went [G4198] the [G3588] people [G2992] after [G3694] the [G3588] [one] [G1520] unto [G2193] Dan.
31: And [G2532] he made [G4160] houses [G3624] upon [G1909] high [places [G5308], and [G2532] he appointed [G4160] priests [G2409] from any part [G3313][G5100] of [G1537] the [G3588] people [G2992] who [G3739] were not [G3756] of [G1537] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Levi.
32: And [G2532] Jeroboam made [G4160] a holiday [feast [G1859] in [G1722] the [G3588] month [G3376] the [G3588] eighth [G3590], on [G1722] the [G3588] fifteenth [G4003] day [G2250] of the [G3588] month [G3376], according to [G2596] the [G3588] holiday [G1859], the [G3588] [one] in [G1722] the [G3588] Judah. And [G2532] he went up unto [G1909] the [G3588] altar [G2379] which [G3739] he made [G4160] in [G1722] Beth-el, the [G3588] to sacrifice [G2380] to the [G3588] heifers [G1151] which [G3739] he made [G4160]. And [G2532] he placed [G3936] in [G1722] Beth-el the [G3588] priests [G2409] of the [G3588] high [places [G5308] which [G3739] he made [G4160].
33: And [G2532] he went up unto [G1909] the [G3588] altar [G2379] which [G3739] he made [G4160] in [G1722] the [G3588] fifteenth [G4003] day [G2250] in [G1722] the [G3588] month [G3376] the [G3588] eighth [G3590], in [G1722] the [G3588] holiday [G1859] which [G3739] he shaped [G4111] out off his [own] heart [G2588][G1473]. And [G2532] he made [G4160] holiday [G1859] for the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel, and [G2532] he went up unto [G1909] the [G3588] altar [G2379] the [G3588] to sacrifice upon it .
